Drama round-up
Sep. 12th, 2009 11:25 am1. The latest rumor about Shall It Snow on Christmas, the drama by A Love to Kill writer with the director of Bali (my heaven, as far as angsty dramas are concerned) is that it's going to be So Ji Sub who will be the male lead opposite Han Ye Seul's heroine. SJS is certainly more age-appropriate than Lee Min Ho. If this is true, I have such mixed feelings. On one hand, I am ecstatic - SHS isn't only a very good actor but is also sex-on-a-stick. And a bigger, much more experienced star. There is no arguing that casting him in Christmas is trading up. But! I really really wanted to see Min Ho in a drama which could actually use the talent he has. I am terrified he will end up in teenybopper-Group8 drama hell. I mean, he could become the next Joo Ji Hoon (minus the drug scandal, hopefully) - someone who came to fame in a popular teenybopper fluff (though Goong >>>>> BOF, times infinity) but then did really interesting stuff or...he could star in the Korean remake of It Started With a Kiss. *shudder*
2. Chuno thought of the day (because, yes, it's gotten THAT bad and obsessive) - you know how BOF had the F4 for the teen set? Well, Chuno is basically giving us an ahjumma F4. Or at least this ahjumma's - Jang Hyuk, Oh Ji Ho, Lee Jong Hyuk, Kim Ji Suk. All in period gear and desperate and using swords. YES.
3. I am too terrified to anticipate IRIS because if I get any more excited, I will explode.
4. I started Conspiracy in the Court. I am about half an ep in. It's beautifully shot. I get a bit lost sometimes because I know nothing about politics of the period and it is really heavy on that - I go "who is that", "how is this related to that" etc etc. Also, the subs, while excellent, try to convey the archaic, formal language these people speak but it throws me out of the story - I mean, when's the last time you heard "pullulating" or "varlet" in every day conversation? I do find it interesting and will continue.
