Haaaaaaaaaaaaaate
Aug. 10th, 2009 10:02 pmI am on episode 4 of My Girl rewatch and oh, I have forgotten how much I hated Tennis Girl! I hate her so much I refuse to remember her proper name.
Let's see: her long-term, serious boyfriend suffers a huge tragedy - both his parents die in a car crash. What does she do? She disappears without a word, to go play pro tennis around the world. For two years. No call, no note, no nothing - I bet he found out where she went from TV news. Then she gets back and demands he take her back.
The thing that drives me crazy isn't her deciding to pursue her goals instead of staying to support someone she supposedly loves and delaying these goals for just a short bit of time. That's not stellar, but it's understandable. It's going without a word, because she knew she'd feel guilty if she saw him, so she decided not to see him. WTF! And the worst part is Gong-Chan is an incredibly good, understanding guy - if she talked to him and explained that she feels awful for him but it's her only chance for success (not that it seemed to be or whatever) he would have never dreamt of keeping her back and she knows it!
So basically she dumped him without a word in the worst time of his life and never communicated and then is shocked shocked he does not want her back when she pops out of nowhere. "It was hard for me too." Really, really, bitch? Poor you, I weep for you and your freely chosen choice.
You know, for a relationship to work, a party does not need to be a paragon of unselfishness but they should be able to think of the other person at least somewhat and put themselves in the other person's shoes - but Tennis Girl is completely incapable of that - she doesn't seem to comprehend wants or emotions not her own.
