For once, not about Asian entertainment.
Jul. 26th, 2006 10:43 amEbay is wonderful (You can find the oddest things there. This is how I got my hands on a Russian dubbed version of a 1970s French mini based on Countess de Monsoreau which I saw as a kid) but sometimes it's evil. I ended up bidding on something which I later found elsewhere for much cheaper. Luckily, I just checked the bidding stats and I've been outbid. Yay. Saved.
Has anyone else been seeing all the CW posters, pushing its shows, green and white posters with face of lead(s) in the middle with a "Free to be ____" slogans. I keep wondering why VM's is "free to be fearless." True, Veronica is no timid mouse, but fearless? Screaming i the fridge? Freaking out in the Fitzpatrick bar? On the roof in NP? She is a brave girl, true. But fearless? I think not. Odd. But the photo is adorable so who cares (I was also amused to notice that someone drew glasses, beard and mustache on Tom Welling's face in the ad for Smallville).
Btw, is "Devil Wears Prada" worth watching? I've heard good things about it, but with my preference for angst and prominent male characters, this flick seems like the anti-me. Hmmmm.

Date: 2006-07-26 07:33 pm (UTC)The only CW poster I've seen was for Gilmore Girls, but I actually think the ad campaign is kind of cute. Even if it's not always spot on, the marketing department at least put some thought into it!

Date: 2006-07-26 08:05 pm (UTC)can't get over the "size 6 is the new 14" talking point in Devil Wears Prada.
Whaaaaaaa? I guess it means I am 14 now :P

Date: 2006-07-26 08:14 pm (UTC)I know. I'm a 4 or a 6 and the fact that they SAY this in the movie is absolutely ridiculous and insulting to me. First of all, I hate that a woman above a size 8 is considered obese in this culture, because you can be absolutely stunning regardless of size, but giving this unrealistic "you must be THIIIIN" message to young girls everywhere upsets me. Thin can indeed be beautiful, but so can curvaceous. Anne Hathaway was a size 6 when she began filming Devil, and, per her charachter, she lost about twenty pounds while she was filming so that she could fit into a 0 or a 2 for the end sequences. And was that really healthy for her? Gah. I get so annoyed at Hollywood sometimes.
