For once, this isn't just an anime post. Though to be fair, the other shows I normally like and write about are on a summer break.
Recent shippy BSG spoilers on
thesecretcylon have certainly made me think
For full text of spoilers go to the comm, but eeeeeee! I wonder if Kara and Lee really did have sex post Anders pick-up (why? how? (yeah, I know the mechanics, that's not what I mean)) and that is the horrible thing that led to them not speaking. Why would it lead to them not speaking? JB indicated that Kara is at fault (though I'd love KS's take on it) so what? It was clear Lee was really into Kara in S2 (Scar) so was it just scar taken to logical conclusion and then Kara said next morning it was just a frak she is going to Anders blah blah blah. But why? I mean, I get it they have oodles of chemistry and potentially unresolved UST, but I don't see Kara, who know got Anders back, just randomly going to her best friend who she knows is hung up on her for a quick frak. Did she get severe wedding jitters? What? Suffice it to say I am very curious. Also, it means the writers aren't done with K/L which is not surprising as it's obviously a lovely mine of angst.
Also, JB indicates that Lee is obsessed with Kara (yes, I agree) and that Dee knows about the Kara thing. Which makes me wonder about Dee. Why would she be with a man for whom she is second choice. I'd get it if she was madly in love with him, but while I got a friendly and compatible vibe, I didn't get a burning dysfunctional passion, that will fly in the face of reason (I get this with Helo/Boomer a-plenty, but not with Lee/Dee. Of course, everything is in the eye of the beholder and just as there are people bored by H/B I am sure there are people who see L/D passion. I am talking merely about my own reaction). Maybe she is someone who is pragmatic and down to earth and thinks 'I've found a good man and with work I can make it work.' If so, points to her.
Also, to get back onto the Helo/Boomer track (come on, I have to ship the angstiest ship out there on the show). Are there any news about either Helo or Boomer?
In other news, I am severely amused by the fact that Patty Hearst might be on. Heeeeee. Go VM!
And in anime news (yes, really). I've decided that I definitely want Tamaki/Haruhi in Ouran. Not just because for the rest of the guys it's entertaining or what not, and they like her, but Tamaki is the only one who is really desperate/serious about it, but because duty-bound prosaic Haruhi needs someone dramatic and fun. They will totally be Haruhi's parents Mark 2.
Also, I've been rewatching Fushigi Yuugi and rewatches are interesting experiences (I've rewatched certain scenes and episodes before ("I've found you" *swoon faint drool*) but never the whole FY). For one, I don't hate Nakago as much this time around. He's still evil and horrible but I guess I really get how non-functional he is. When he does the whole "here's a spell on Tamahome now he is only Yui's," part of it is that he wants to mess Tamahome and keep Yui placated and to achieve his goals, but another part is that he truly doesn't understand love or free will and what difference it is. As long as Tamahome acts in a required manner, he honestly cannot see what the difference is if he didn't voluntarily choose it. He's had quite a FUBAR life. Also, I am wimping out, since the deaths are about to start to hit. Tamahome's family is about to get offed and it's downhill from there. I don't think I want to watch Nuriko and Hotohori die, or even Mitsukake and Chirico though I am not as invested in them.
And also, it struck me that one of the key differences between the Seriyuu Seven and the rest of the sevens is the society role. All of Nakago's bunch are outside society. They are all sociopaths and/or outlaws, all displaced persons (sometimes, as in the case of the twins, Soi and nakago, literally). Now look at Suzaku 7: they are a microcosm of the world of the book: Hotohori is a ruler, Chichri represents religious class, Chirico the scholars, Mitsukake is a doctor so is a representative of the learned professions, Tamahome is peasantry (or working class, whatever appeals) and Nuriko is both a court lady and is from a merchant class. Tasuki is the bandits, who obviously exist in any society. And from the limited information we have about the Byakko 7 and the Genbu 7, they similarly seem society members. Hmmm.
I also foresee an anime buying binge: Tsubasa Chronicles, Bleach, Saiyuki Reload and Gunlock (I have them rented but I want to own), Trinity Blood, Samurai Champloo, Basilisk (when released) and Ouran (when season is complete).
And last but not least, the promised GetBackers picspam
