dangermousieKdramas are out to get me!
Now they have cast one of my all-time favorite actresses, L Ji Ah, who played the incredibly kick-ass amazing Sujini in my favorite drama of all time, Legend a.k.a. "the drama dangermousie never shuts up about" opposite the only kdrama leading man whose appeal I do not get AT ALL. Ever. Seriously - I have seen dozens and dozens of dramas with as many leading men and of all of them, he is the only one who irritates the hell out of me.
The he in question? Ryu Shi Won, big Hallyu star. If you read my LJ for any length of time, you might know him as "Ugly Brother" (my name for him, not the drama's) from Beautiful Days, the one who apparently was supposed to get the heroine in that drama until the makers saw sense (and fan reaction) and she ended up with the incredible Lee Byung Hun.
Now, my hate for Ugly Brother is legendary. But that's fine. It's not an actor's fault if he plays a character I loathe. I can get over that. I saw Uhm Tae-Woong, one of my all-time faves, as a horrible person in DGCH - I wanted to murder him. Now I love him. I am madly crushing on the protagonist of Slingshot even though I wanted to stab him in Winter Sonata etc etc etc.
I was utterly unimpressed with RSY's acting but that's OK. People can improve. But there simply cannot be any help for the fact that I find RSY incredibly unappealing-looking, to put it mildly. He'd have to be an acting genius to overcome that and I haven't heard anything about that happening.

To sum up. One of my favorite actresses opposite a guy I find a bad actor, ugly, and whose previous role made me hate the sight of him even though we were supposed to like him. Nope. Not happening.
His previous drama was opposite Jang Nara which I could get behind: I am utterly indifferent to her. But this! Yikes!
For what it's worth, I think he is a good singer. I just wish he'd stick to singing...
In other news, still haven't had a chance to continue with Spring Waltz. Need ep 8 like AIR.
