Season Finale
Jul. 12th, 2006 05:07 pmI am nw watching "Devil's Trap" and Oh. My. Guh. The only thing hotter than falling apart Dean is the angry and dangerous Dean. No wonder he keeps a good control of himself. Because when he slips the leash? Whoa. When he declares war on hell or when he just tells Meg "I lied" and gets Sam to finish her after she gave them the info? And even Sam is taken aback, but Dean is utterly ruthless. And yes, the fact that real Meg dies as well, is another thing for him to beat himself about, but he doesn't stop asking her questions even as she is dying. It's freaking scary. And freaking hot. The boy does this icy anger which is scarier than shouting.
I also love how he just won't give up or believe John is dead. John might be a lousy father, but Dean is an awesome son.
ETA: And of course, when Dean tells Sam "I am going to be the one to bury you," he expresses his huge deep fear (not an unfounded one). And he is right. It is selfish to care more for revenge, for dead people, than for the ones currently alive. Simpler too, which is why I think John is good at it. He was so busy reveling in wangst, he never saw how much he screwed up his kids. But it's a lot easier to mourn than to interact day to day.

He's acting completely rationally, but completely without mercy.
That's true. And because he doesn't blow up, his rage is stored and doesn't dissipate.

Date: 2006-07-12 09:31 pm (UTC)He's already had to bury his mother and watch his father fall apart, so Dean has a complete right to point out that who Sam is going to be hurting the most is the people he leaves behind.
Between the two of them, Dean is the more gentle brother. He's also put himself in the "protector" role of the family in an almost motherly role. He only reacts so violently when his family is threatened. Of course he's well trained, so his rage does some damage.

Date: 2006-07-12 09:57 pm (UTC)I really wanted Sam to pull the trigger at the end, though. It saddens me that he didn't because I feel like John's gonna die soon. And then they'll still have to hunt the demon, but John will be dead and Sam will have wasted the best oppertunity to kill it even though John ended up dying anyways.
and holy mother of god, it was so insanely sexy when the demon was killing-ish Deanno subject
Date: 2006-07-12 10:04 pm (UTC)And there is NO way Sam would have been able to pull that trigger on John. Not unless John was actively murdering Dean, really.

Date: 2006-07-12 10:09 pm (UTC)-_- I know.. but still, I wanted him to. And at one point, John basically was actively murdering Dean.
