Supernatural: Wendigo
Jun. 30th, 2006 08:48 pmMore Supernatural stuff.
Awwww, Sam at Jess's grave? Uber-awwww. I am beginning to understand
keepaofthecheez's liking. And Sam is burning with vengeance. Yay. And his anger is burning him up and all he wants is to find Dad, and sure, part of it is so he can get on with the avenging, but another one is the little boy lost vibe: Dad will know what to do. Of course, even if they kill the thing, it still won't bring Jess back.
And Dean offering Sam the wheel. He has this facade but underneath it all he really loves his baby brother. Awwww again. He really really cares for him. He tries to talk him through his anger, and he is very attuned to him. And it's all about making others better because he is too FUBARed to ever be OK himself. Woe. And I think he finds a certain peace in following Dad's rules. That scene with Sam and dean by firelight...love. I know people are Sam or dean fangirls, but can I be a SamandDean one instead? Because I just love them as brothers. This whole ep is about importance of family actually. Winchester family, the story of the week family.Though if I had to pick just one, I'd pick Dean.
Ooooh. Dean trying to pick up Faith-like chick. Yay. And all snarky and hot. But he looks so vulnerable there for a moment when she kisses him on the cheek in gratitude, at the end. I think 'doing good' is a lot of what's keeping his soul together.
Also, SPN does have an anime sensibility, doesn't it? I can't put my finger on it, but it does.
Jensen Ackles literally looks unreal. He is so classically, perfectly good-looking, it's scary. And beat-up Dean? Even hotter.
Also, Leoben!

Date: 2006-07-01 06:59 am (UTC)Good to know I wasn't losing it.
I cansee where Sam's understandable rage, if not checked, can be destructive. And ohhh the poor Dean. He is willing to take Sam's burdens and guilt on himself and to destory himself to save his brother. I think it's partlylove but also partly because he thinks he himself is lost anyway.

Date: 2006-07-01 01:49 pm (UTC)For that reason, I see Dean as the more complex character. Sam is coming at it from the angle that the audience is, Dean's motivations are very conflicted and obscure and even he doesn't seem to know why he's doing what he's doing a lot of the time. Dean knows he's too far gone to save and he rather fatalistically accepts that. The episode "Faith" is amazing because there's such a complete role reversal between the brothers, with Dean being the one who sort of accepts death and Sam being the one putting up a fight for his brother. The ending of that episode and what happens is also a knife to the heart, considering that it's Dean who it all happens to and he's going to take it all to heart.
And Dean doesn't even really know what he wants until "Devil's Trap", where he suddenly becomes the one who backs out when it finally comes down to finding the thing that killed their mother. A great role reversal here because Sam pins Dean to the wall exactly like Dean does to Sam in the Pilot for nearly the same reason.

And he does funny, and he makes an ass out of himself regularly.
The Ackles does evil sooo delicious. And, beat-up bloody woobie-Dean?! Boom.
I'm enjoying your enjoyment of SPN & VM. :)

Wow. Only two episodes in at this point and you've managed to perfectly sum up everything that Dean is in one sentence. I applaud you. Dean really is all about saving everyone else rfom his fate (In a way).
