The VM last night was a solid ep, though not as good as last week's

THE GOOD:

So, Woody is a child molester? Not surprising. Still icky though.

Wallace and Jackie and all that stuff. Sorry, still not caring.

Loved Beav and Mac cuteness. Nothing is cuter than geeks in love. Please get back together, kids. The tutoring is awwwwwww. Especially Mac's "if I help you get an A, will you shiv him?"

Weevil passed but is now going to be arrested for murder. Hmmmm. Though Lamb is actually being useful in this ep and listening to Keith. Lamb is slowly mellowing. I wonder why.

Loved Keith (best dad ever) going for the lawyer's throat. Loved the utter devastation on Veronica and Logan's faces as the verdict is read (and how in character for V to blow off her uber-important tests to see the verdict).

Logan's testimony? OMG. Painful. I ended up watching through my fingers. Having to describe to a courtroom full of people the details of sex between your father and your gf? Oh. God. Poor Logan is emotionally beyond a mess: he is barely holding together not just during his testimony, but during his scene with Aaron and while watching Aaron testify or V's testimony.

Aaron. Even slimeball. And more of him. Yay.

THE BAD:

Are we to believe that nobody but Logan and Veronica saw the tapes? Not the prosecutor, not Lamb not anyone else? Come ON. They would have them authenticated and with a chain of custody REALLY quick.

The chlamydia thing? For one thing, medical records are confidential and thus can't be used. For another, it's not probative. And it's character evidence, can't be used in these circs. No way would this ever be admitted into evidence. Gets me pissed off.

Boo-hoo, V can't go to Stanford because of no scholarship? Yes, indeed. Except for the fact that Stanford is need-blind, so if they accepted her, they would arrange for loans/grants so she could go. Not to mention that with her grades, she would have no problems getting grants and loans. How much disbelief can I suspend?

So, Logan and Veronica didn't talk since alterna-prom? I find this a bit hard to believe.

amen

This episode irked me...not as much as some from earlier this season, but still.

So, Logan and Veronica didn't talk since alterna-prom?
Exactly, and the first time they speak- it's as if that awkward morning never happened..yeah right.

For one thing, medical records are confidential and thus can't be used.
Ummm yes, how did the lawyer even know? give me a break.

So Wallace gets shot..granted with blanks..but still, and he is all good the next day. sorry, i am not buying it.

Another side note...my fiance watches the show with me these days, and he has previously been very pleased with the tech talk that occurs in the show. However, this ep's email not deleting explanation was just pure BS...I just think if you have to fake an explanation, then find a better way of getting to the same goal...grr.

I was watching it with my fiance too who's a computer geek and I asked him about the email explanation and he said it was possible depending on the account that he had set up. Although, probably not all possible, I was too busy watching to catch all of it. :P It's tv, they get to string things together to make it make sense. lol.

The whole trial annoyed me, but this got to me the most. (I have a mini rant in my journal.) My husband and I were shouting 404 at the TV. My other note about the Chlamydia thing was he didn't ask "do you have it" he asked "isn't it true you are being treated for it." My husband has a theory that the defense bribed the doc to treat her for it, but she doesn't really have it. I don't necessarily agree with that but it's interesting to think about.

My other problem was the order of the witnesses. Unless they showed us the trial out of order, Keith and Veronica came after Aaron Echolls. Do they really expect us to believe that the prosecution wouldn't have called Veronica and Keith as part of their case in chief?

Also, on Chain of Custody - I'm sure someone watched those tapes! They had too in order to log them into evidence and charge Aaron. I've never been a big fan of the whole Leo stealing them thing. It always seemed a little OOC for me. But anyway - also the tapes were found on the roof of the guys house! I just don't get how Aarons made up story had no holes poked into. I've thought of about 50. I get that they obviously want Aaron out for some reason, I just really don't like how they went about doing it.

I think the doctor was paid off too.

you're wrong about the financial money. obviously keith and v have SOME money, just not enough rich 09er affluency to pay for college no problem (my family was in the same position)- it's too much to qualify for significant financial aid, but it's not enough to simply pay for full tuition. and colleges like stanford don't necessarily give merit scholarships, since 99% of their students have impeccable grades, and some families don't want to take out loans due to debt. that part isn't unrealistic.

Same. I got completely screwed when I went to college for that very reason. That's totally believable. Also, Stanford is EXPENSIVE. Without the Kane Scholarship, there's no way.

Need-blind is only for admissions, and Veronica already got in. Stanford doesn't give academic merit-based scholarships, and anyway, pretty much everyone who gets in is a superstar. Stanford has a new policy where students from families that make less than $45k get free tuition (though they estimate that room, board, books and expenses will still be $15k on top of that), but the $50k that Keith got from the Kanes near the end of Season 1 puts Veronica out of the running for it.

I'm pissed that practically the whole episdoe last week was spent setting up the whole Logan/Veronica thing and then alterna-prom was just quickly referenced. Very dissapointed. RT better be saving it all for the finale.

This was quite possibly my least favorite ep of the season, and considering how much I love this show and dislike Duncan, that is saying so very much. It just didn't flow with the last several fantastic episodes. Ah, well... Still better than just about everything else out there! :-)

My thoughts exactly.

This wasn't their first encounter since alterna-prom. Veronica says something like, "after a week of forced smiles and the occasional 'hey'..." So I guess neither wants to deal.

I think it'd be great if Aaron could come back next season (if there is a third season), but I wonder if he'll even be alive at the end of the finale.

Actually, I think this in character for Veronica. In last season's finale, she had been avoiding Logan for awhile after finding the cameras and Wallace said something to the effect that she couldn't hide in the bathroom forever. So she finally confronted him (and lied about what she was really feeling that night, but that's neither here nor there).

Loved the Keith moment, but the records thing was dumb. I think Veronica could have plead the fifth there.
