More Veronica Mars today. Yay. After last week's episode, Husband and I came up with the theory for the bus crash etc. Since this is completely unspoiled, I am not putting it behind a cut.

I think Mayor Woody Goodman is responsible. I think he is involved with the Fitzpatricks' drug ring. The bus crash was to get rid of Cervando, who either knew of this or was just a general thorn in Fitzparticks' side. The Woody-Fitzpatrick connection is also involved in the whole incorporation scheme, which Woody seems really anxious about. If all the good parts get incorporated, with very precisely drawn borders, the Fitzpatrick areas etc will be outside the new jurisdiction and the police force left there will be all divided and underfunded and the Fitzpatricks could function a lot easier.

I also realized I am not a shipper for VM at all, any more. I used to be a L/V shipper, but I lost interest in them this season. Neither of the two seems to be stuck on each other, so why should I be? They moved on, and so have I. I guess if they had a soul-changing love affair before, I would have held on for longer, but as it is, even though they had passionate fun, it didn't get to R&J proportions before it all fell apart so...

I lose interest if the parties do. Why should I be more invested than the fictional characters? I am almost off Kara/Lee boat as well. The only reason I am pausing on the gangway is Lee's face as he sees Kara and Anders make out and Kara's hesitation in calling Lee at the end.

Oh, and I want to watch Dr. Who scifi is showing. I taped the two eps from last week but have yet to get to them because Husband wants to watch them too. Can't wait.

I am continuing in my read of The Book and the Sword. It's crack. Bad crack. I present you with an example why.

Nothing says love like this:

She...suddenly remembered the time she and Wen had recieved an order from Old Helmsman Yu soon after their marriage to go to the town of Jiaxing, to the aid of a widow who was being persecuted by a local ruffian. When they had completed the assignment, they spent the evening at Misty Rain Tavern on the South Lake, drinking wine and enjoying the rain. Wen had held his new wife's hand and sung songs at the top of his voice as he tapped out the rhythm with his sword on the severed head of the ruffian.

Aaaaaaah, love. All you need for a fully romantic evening is decapitation, it seems.

Also, I've finished Battle Royale last week. Less than 24-hours which means I really fell madly for it (usually, unless on a train or similar, I read books in more measured dozes).

It's one of the best books I've read in ages. And I am never reading it again. I couldn't take it. Also, I realized that Shogo (the student that befriends and rescues Shuya and Noriko), in the previous game that he won was like Hiroki. Just as Hiroki spent the whole time looking for the girl he loved and didn't hunt anyone and just tell people he wasn't a threat (Hiroki was my favorite character), Shogo spent the whole time looking for Keiko only to find her dead. I also think, that like Hiroki, he wasn't the girl's boyfriend. He just loved her and wanted to rescue her. He had her photograph in his wallet which is why he threw it away, otherwise the Instructor wouldn't buy his fake-out that he never cared for her and the pic was of someone else. But they weren't dating, or the Instructor would have known about them.

Nothing says "I love you" like the dismembered body parts of your antagonists.

No wonder this woman is desperate to get her husband back. Only he knows how to take care of all those heads they keep in the basement...

I know a man who runs a motel who might be able to help her...

But isn't he busy taking care of his dear Mum?

Btw, what is that icon from? It's killing me.

Well, she's not going anywhere.

Re icon: it's from the Spanish Inquisition skit by Monty Python (famous for Michael Palin bursting in with the immortal "NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION" line). One of their funniest skits, followed with a skit where the cardinals "torture" an old lady with a giant comfy chair and fluffy pillows.

*lightbulb goes on*

Now I know where Crichton's line "bring the comfy chair!" comes from.

If you've never seen a MP skit, that's the one to watch. The cardinals occassionally burst in on other skits, but the original one in the best (where a man in a Victorian skit prompt the whole thing by saying "I wasn't expecting some kind of Spanish Inquisition" when a woman keeps asking him questions).

"bring the comfy chair!"

Yup, that's the reference.

I think you guys will love Dr.Who, its a lot of fun with a definite serious edge to it. Plus we have to do something for the next six months until BSG comes back on.

One thing interresting about Dr. Who is that wile on some level there is a story arch, ultimately there really isn't. All you need to do is understand some of the background and you are good to go

I think all signs point to Woody. Just his name alone - Goodman - indicates he's anything but. In fact, I'm wondering if it isn't a little too obvious.
I still have hope for L/V but more in a 'if it happens, it happens' way.

Is it the new British Dr Who you're talking about? I watched part of an ep and thought it was cheesy, but that's just me. You might like it. I'm more interested in Hex, which has just started showing here. It's called the "British Buffy", but it's not really.

Yup, it's the new british one with Eccleston. It's supposed to be cheesy so I don't mind.

I hope it's not Goodman actually, as that would be way too obvious.

Must read up on Hex.
