dangermousieBehind the cut is the transcript of the opening of next week's VM's ep (transcribed by a kind soul on TWOP from UPN's site).
Presidential Suite. Duncan and Veronica cuddled on the couch. Duncan's kissing V's neck. The t.v. is showing The Big Lebowski and Veronica is saying lines simulateously with Jeff Bridges: "I'm the dude..." "That or dudeness or duder or el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."
D: Veronica, you need to stop being the dude.
V: Stoner bowler doesn't do it for you?
D: A little. Only because I like the way your lips pout when you do guy voice.
V: These lips? [Puckering them up] I've had 'em for years, I can't do a thing with them.
Logan enters, takes off an outer shirt.
L: Where's my martini and why don't I smell pot roast?
Sits on the couch.
L: Hey, you're watching the Big Lebowski! Why didn't you wait for me?
D: I didn't know when you were coming home.
L: You know, when you asked me to move in I thought it was because you wanted to spend more time together.
V grabs remote.
V: You just missed the supermarket scene.
K. Mars on golf course with Guttendork.
Blah, blah about incorporating the "country club" part of Neptune (pop. about 9000) and Guttendork making K.M. the police chief. Woody wants to make Neptune cleaner and safer. K says he wouldn't even be able to afford to live in the town.
School hallway. V is on the phone, obviously with D's voice mail.
V: Hey, are you sick, or am I going to see you singing twist and shout on a parade float? Call me.
V sees an out of order sign on the bathroom. She enters. L is leaning on the sink where they started their big bathroom make-out scene way back when.
L: Hey remember when we made out against the sink and you had your legs around my waist?"
V: Stop, you'll make me blush.
L: Honestly, how much easier would your life be if you were indifferent to me?
V: So much, since I'm really struggling. What do you want?
L: I don't know if you noticed, but I got arrested. Super fun. This guy came forward saying he was the 911 caller the night Felix got killed. I was hoping you could do some sleuthing for old time's sake.
V: Really? Could I?
L: But why would you, right? Hey, at least I got to enjoy asking you for help.
V: Old time's sake? Give me something I can work with.
L: The witness said I threatened him. He's setting me up. I need to know why.
V: What's his name?
V steps out of the bathroom. Sees D, who is making an against the flow of students bee line for her. He notices L leaving the restroom. He's carrying papers.
V: Hey, I just tried to call you.
D: I need to talk with you.
D pulls V into a darkened room.
V: Logan wanted me to help with...
D: I'm not really thinking about that right now. Lizzy gave me that hard drive to hide for Meg. And I downloaded some of her files last night. I just... wound up read some of her emails.
V: Why is Meg emailing someone at Child Protective Services?
D: One of the kid's she's babysitting for is being abused. She's been emailing this agent, trying to help the kid, but she doesn't have proof. It.. it's not sexual. They're not beating him. They're like, mentally tormenting him. I keep going through them, but she never says who he is. We have to find him. We have to find him.
Dangermousie's thoughts: Yay on V/L bathroom scene. How cool that they reference last season's HOT make-out session. But Duncan and Veronica are investigating together now? Yuck. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Date: 2005-11-10 07:45 pm (UTC)Until now, I imagine, despite evidence to the contrary, Duncan has thought of Veronica's investigating as something fairly light along the lines of Nancy Drew or the Bobbsey Twins. Maybe Encyclopedia Brown ("I hear he's good."). I think he is going to balk when he finds out what her investigation really exposes her to, and in attempting to protect her will lose her.
For Duncan, as for many viewers at this point, Aaron is the evil anomoly, not just one example of a symptomatic problem.
Aaron isn't behind everything. Locking him away (while a good thing), doesn't make the world safe for kitties and puppies.
On another topic, I was more interested by the Woody/Keith scene than you were apparently. Woody is talking about incorporating Neptune, or rather only the wealthy part of Neptune and creating a police department for extra protection. Once again it is the wealthy citizens of the area who would reap the benefit and the others would be left out in the cold outside the borders of the shiny new city under Lamb's doubtful protection.

Maybe he will also realize that she does underhanded, unethical things in the course of her investigating and I don't think Duncan could deal. Duncan is a very decent guy (witness his wanting to protect that kid) and he would balk at V's "unorthodox" methods.

Oh, that is interesting as well. Also, how amusing that Lamb would be the L&O for the non-09ers, who are actually who are probably most against him.
And we see that Woody's talk abotu soothing the tensions is just that...talk. Because this certainly will inflame bad feelings even further. I can see why the rich folk don't want to "waste" their tax $ on the poor. If it's just rich people in town, they would have some amazing schools, roads, etc while with no tax $ from 09er people, the rest of the town would decay
