dangermousie | Thank You ep 15

Finished Thank You a few days ago, and it was wonderful to the very last minute. Definitely going into my Top 10.

And yup, he is as good as his word, about wanting to be her family. Taking care of Grandpa:

Remembering his convo with unscumbag. I find the way the drama handled Unscumbag rather wonderful: he is not a bad person, but he cannot have his second chance because his earlier detachment and cowardice cost him the chance to be YS' husband or Bom's Dad forever. He tells Dr. Min that he (Min) can't come into YS' life because it doesn't consist just of YS but a senile old man and a child with HIV, and says it took him (unscumbag) years to be able to get here so Dr. Min can't. But that's the thing: it might have taken unscumbag years, but for Dr. Min neither Bom nor even crazy grandpa are drawbacks he must overcome in order to be with YS. They are huge bonuses, instead. He tells YS he wants to be 'her man' in the middle of 14, but significantly, by the end of the ep, he tells her he wants to be part of her family...

Unscumbag tries to win her back, but it's too late. And she tells him she has Dr. Min in her heart now.

Awww, now he is washing him. The thing that totally gets me is that he is so happy to be doing this.

This scene with unscumbag and his mom sort of broke me.

He really is a perfectionist!

They are driving out to help some old sick lady and he is all 'you haven't answered if I can be part of yor family. Is blood all that important?'

Helping old lady.

She is cooking for the old lady and is wondering if the stew tastes OK and he is all 'can I try?' and she lets him try and is all 'you have no idea what this kind of dish should taste like, do you?' (because it's some really rustic dish). LOL. And he is all 'can you give me some?'

Whatever, I thought this was adorable.

LOL. He is trying and failing to chop wood for old lady and is cranky :P

The following conversation ensues...I sort of die.
Dr. Min: Why isn’t this going well?
YS: Are you cutting up garlic? It won’t work by throwing your strength around like that. Just say that you can’t do it. Leave it. I’ll do it later.
Dr. Min: Look here. Does a doctor have to do things like this? Don’t you think it’s enough to get in the car and drive all the way here, give her medicine and check on her? Do I have to chop wood too? What kind of neighborhood is this? Am I some kind of peddler? A horse carrying wares? I’ve just about seen it all…
YS: You said you’d do it. No one asked it of you. You said you knew how to do it and that you’d do it. Grandma was sorry about it so she said she didn’t want to receive the treatment......but you came here anyway and did it for her.
Dr. Min: That’s what I mean. I'm the one who said I'd come through this unpaven mountain road.

Oh no. He tells her about his ex being responsible for Bom's condition. She asks if his care for her and Bom was guilt and pity and he says no, but this conversation can clearly end nowhere wonderful.
