TeeVee and movies
Apr. 21st, 2008 09:58 amI wish I could say I have seen the latest Battlestar Galactica or Doctor Who, but that would be lying.
About the only downside for being married to someone who shares your interest is you have to wait until both of you have the time. So am waiting on Mr. Mousie.
In other news (and no offense to any Twilight fans on my flist) is it wrong to laugh at the movie clips? Seriously. Plus, the whole emphasis of 'she is so fragile to him, he could kill her with a twitch of his fingers, she likes it' strikes me as really wrong. I haven't burned my bra any time recently and I do think a woman needs a man more than a fish needs a bycicle :P but I am a feminist* and I find that utterly appalling. Ugh. Seriously, some role model.**
* I find it appalling even aside from feminist issues, btw. Way to encourage abusive relationship and unhealthy takes on what's good.
**Yes, yes, not all fiction needs to be full of role models or relationships that work. Hardly. I wouldn't mind Twilight's message if there was anything about how this is weird, or the issue was explored at all (let alone in depth). It's the whole 'this is fluffy and full of bunnies, and all girls should want one' that bugs me.
