Husband thinks the first season was much better because we were dropped in the middle of the story: the season didn't start with Lilly's body being discovered, so this allowed us to jump into the thick ot things. This doesn't bother me because of course, that particular set-up in not anything that could be repeated, just as of course the emotional impact of the big mystery could only happen once (I doubt nearest and dearest will be bumped off on a regular basis). I do wish there was more snark, but hopefully Veronica will emerge out of the pod soon (I'd pay good money for a Veronica-Kendall match).

I was rewatching bits of "Ruskie Business" yesterday (ahhh, Logan torture. I love the scene where he breaks down in Veronica's arms. I'd say that's about his least favorite person to show weakness in front of, except for the fact that his loving family is so psycho and his friends so unconnected that there isn't anyone he could break down in front of anyway). The Russian bride thing makes me roll my eyes though, because Veronica, honey? I know you are not a Russian, but Russian women who come over here to marry don't come over for love but for economic security (much as Women did in the 19th century West). She wouldn't ditch the husband because he was bald on top or his jokes weren't too funny. As long as he had a job, she'd stay unless he was an abusive psycho (I guess no Russian bride for Aaron, then). So yeah. But the actress' Russian accent was OK.

I'd also wonder as to where Ekaterina got the postcard (don't tell me the guy in witness protection was dumb enough to write), except that would take my attention away from the Trina-Logan in the lobby scene. The bit where he gets up with hope in his face just kills me. The thought of sitting there, waiting for hours, and anticipating every time the elevator door opens and the whole "between hope and fear" thing is just awful, emotionally.

This is probably time for my big confession: I only started watching Veronica Mars when there were four episodes left to the season. Because of that, I already knew what the main mystery was. The second season is a much different experience, because I was wondering what the mystery was going to be, and the shock the mystery caused. It's not "Who killed such-and-such?" it's "What the hell happened?".

Oh, I knew the main mysteries anyway, because I was such a spoiler glutton. This season is actually weird for me, because I am trying to stay spoiler free.

Heya! *waves*

I agree with your husband; I'd prefer it if we were dropped into the story where we left off. It feels a little artificial. The big emotional impact of who killed Felix is not as high when we join Logan et al after the fact. Still, I bet you were as stunned as everyone else by the "Who's her Boyfriend?" bait-and-switch! :)

Do you think the show is trying to be a little "sexier" to attract new viewers?

Actually I meant it would have been more fun if we were dropped even further in the middle of things, i.e. after the bus crash. Only since the whole in medias res thing is something you can do only once, so they were stuck.

I'd be more involved in the mystery if the mystery had Logan in severe trouble for Felix or when (which seems likely to happen) the bus thing will end up dragging Veronica in and personally affecting her (as with her arrest and VM written on the dead guy's hand, I think that's where the show is going).

I was actually pretty stunned. My first reaction was "is she cheating????" :P The girl has no taste, what can I say?

Well, there is the Kendall/Logan stuff, not the affair itself, but the (relative) show of skin. But I don't know. I think S1 had some pretty "sexy" bits. And the one way to get across that L/K are just purely physical is to show the physical stuff. Thankfully they did not show "sexy" V/D making-out (which I think is rather symbolic: they have no passion) or my eyes would have bled.

Yup, except that emotionally it seems important (to me) to watch Veronica deal with the problem. We could have had that if we'd dropped in with Logan, but not so much if we dropped in after the bus crash.

I'm curious though how they are going to use Lilly this year. I thought the ghostie thing would have been done. Veronica meets Whoopie Goldberg meets Patrick Swayze? Er, not so much...

Yeah, I do like funny Duncan better, but...it was odd. Anti-shipper-y. And the Mona Lisa was just...scary. *shudders* I am much more into Logan but not Logan-Veronica. It's TOO much angst for me!

See, for me the more angst the better (as long as we get a happy ending). I am after all, a Mal/Inara, John/Aeryn, Max/Liz shipper :)

True. They need it for narrative purposes. It just results in a bit slower start (which is OK with me. It would have been disorienting otherwise). It's a trade-off.

I don't think they'll use her much. I know the actress is not really available. Of course, if she is connected to this year's mystery, it's another matter...

Max/Liz?

I'm not so much into angst as into the confined impulse, unspoken word, unrelieved tension...I want my characters to get happy and then keep changing but in good ways. It's all about becoming for me, not so much about "being" when "being" when it just gets unhappy.

I'm a shipper for everyone - and not always in the romantic sense. I'm a HUGE Kara/Bill Adama shipper in a father/daughter kind of way. I'm a huge Lee/Dad shipper in the same way. I absolutely that family dynamic almost more than anything else in the show. I'm a Tyrol/Helo shipper in that I want them to come together and be happy and protect Sharon - but I don't really care about Sharon. I'd rather have her be mysterious. I know, it sounds wrong...Kara/Bill, Lee/Bill, Kara/Tigh, Tyrol/Helo...

Just remember, not romantic! LOL

I never really felt like Crichton and Aeryn were together when there were two Crichtons. I guess I always felt like the Crichton with Aeryn was the copy. Wierd, huh?

Sorry, Max/Liz are the couple from Roswell (another little obsession of mine).

I must admit that after Crichton/Aeryn, my "ship" for the show was Crichton/D'Argo (not in a romantic sense, thankfully), so I understand exactly here you are coming from. Usually, while O find non-romantic relationships interesting, I don't invest in them as much. I don'tknow why. Maybe because in a lot of them, the bond will still be there (Adama will always be Lee's dad). Tyrol/Helo interaction is something that interests me, but I don't particularly care if they bond, hate, or ignore. I am interested either way (which is not a reaction I get in a romantic ship. I want a romantic ship together).

Interesting. I wonder why that was. But hey, saved you the Infinite Possibilities angst (I bawled).
