A 'clone' is a slang word from (I think) the 1980s for a rather butch gay man wearing jeans and a tight white shirt. Apparently, this was a very popular outfit with the gay community at this point, and obviously a very non-descript one--ergo, all the men who wore it just looked like 'clones' of each other.
