Veronica Mars Blather and a LOT of Roswell goodness

I am trying to unearth my Veronica Mars season 2 tapes (yes, I am a luddite. I use VCRs). It would help if I labeled them, but I have such an urge to rewatch S2. It's interesting to me, because I love the characters, and the snark, and the mysteries, but I never get really involved unless there is Logan/Veronica stuff. I guess it helps give me an emotional connection.


In other news, check out Epic is the Watchword, a very cool 'open' website about not keeping all of L/V stuff to just over the summer. I doubt it is going to change TPTB's minds one way or another, but it's great to read people's thoughtful write-ups.

Moreover, another issue of Neptune Navigator is out, and it made me laugh like a maniac, as usual. Gia's summary of The Supernatural is to die for.

I also have more VM stories to rec. First is Fresh Egg, a Wallace and Logan story, Short, sweet, and pitch perfect. The second is R.E.M., a really non-linearly written, beautiful post 2.22 L/V fic. Check them out. Then, my favorite VM fic ever, Molasses and Taffy, has had more chapters (it's currently up at 13). It's set post 2.22 and involves everyone. It's L/V (and the author knows how to write both Logan and Veronica perfectly) but even though it's L/V heavy, it's not just a L/V story because it's more of a story what happens right after 2.22 and involves everyone: not just Logan and Veronica, but Keith, Mac, Wallace etc. And it's the rare multiple POV story that works, as it looks at events from Veronica, Logan and Keith's POV.

I mentioned last week that my favorite ever scene in Roswell is that scene in 'Destiny' where Liz and Max (the world's hottest alien), on the run from the FBI, spend the night hiding in an abandoned truck. Basically, Liz finds out exactly just what horrible things Agent Pierce & Co. did to Max and, horrified and blaming herself, tells him she wishes she could go back in time and prevent him from saving her life because that's when his 'just ended' and he tells her that this is when his life began and what kept him alive was thinking of her and that he loves her. And there is desperateness, and hugging and his holding on for dear life and her kissing his palm. We shall not even get into their jumping off the bridge together preferring death to capture. My high school life was thankfully more peaceful. Anyhow, thanks to the lovely cosmicviolet's link to "Striped Wall," I bring you caps of that scene. If you like angst, OTPs or hot angsty boys and girls, do clickety-click. Roswell is so TV does Bollywood. (Also, thank you everyone for fic recs. I've been loving those).

Sigh...Good times...Good times...To remember how much hope I had for Roswell back then. There were flashes of brilliance after Destiny (EOTW and CDB spring to mind), but nothing was ever the same after Destiny. And it so could have been even BETTER. Sigh.

Oh well. If they hadn't mostly ruined it (and they couldn't ruin Jason and Shiri's chemistry, no matter how they tried), I would never have gotten into fanfic to "fix" things the way I wanted them. And that would have been a tragedy. :) Because then I wouldn't have met all the awesome people I have through this show.

It did seem to switch tack a bit, but I confess I am that oddball Roswell fan who actually liked S2 and 3 a lot. Not as much as S1 (though my all time fave ep is in S2, TEotW), but I did love them. I think this is where watching the whole show in a great lump really helped me, since I watched them all on DVD. If an ep wasn't my thing, I could ff and move on to the next but I think if I watched it one hour a week I would have been frustrated. (On the minus side, watching 12+ eps a day plays havoc with your sleep schedule. I haven't pulled allnighters like that since college).

And yeah, the fanfic was good.

Heeee. I think Behr was 29 (???) by the time the show ended. I don't think any of them were teens, with the possible exception of the actress who played Tess who I think was 18 at the start. I am all for it though. Drooling over 16-18 year olds? Unappealing, especially since I don't find them attractive because of looking too young. Drooling over guys in their mid-late 20s? Much better.

Love! Absolutely love your Roswell posts!!! I love that series so much and I didn't think there were anybody else out there who love it!!! Yay!!!

Love all the moments you mention... Although some day I have to make a post about my favorite ones... and definitelyl make icons!

One thing that really amazed me was the chemistry between Max and Liz. I don't really don't know how to explain it but the do look great together and I felt so bad when they were apart... *sigh*

Love the fact that they allowed the series to end as it should and not cut it as some others...

Thank you! Yeah, I discovered this show in August and literally tore through it in crazy marathons (if you look at my August lj entries, it's mostly Roswell, long long reaction posts, all the time).

Oh yes. The show worked mainly because they had such amazing chemistry. They really hit the jackpot there. And I do love that they had a proper ending.

Oh, that scene in "Destiny" is just so amazing. I absolutely adore it. The Max/Liz angst on that show was just...wonderful. Absolutely. Sigh.

Now I feel like watching that episode. Hee.

Michael/Maria too! Awwww, I loved them, probably because I could relate a little bit better with them. My boyfriends were all more like Michael than Max. (As cute as it is to watch someone like Max on TV, if I guy was that relentlessly attached to me in RL I'd be a little lot afraid.)
