dangermousie: (BW: KANK by SRKFanatic)
[personal profile] dangermousie
The poll has spoken and since Jensen Ackles is the winner, expect Jensen spam some time this week. I must admit that I will be doing a picspam of all these gentlemen because hey, someone voted for them (except for poor Tom Welling. I guess WB angst and deer eyes only get you so far) and because they are hot. Escpecially Olivier Martinez, because I've never done a picspam of him and he was to die for in Horseman on the Roof (one of the coolest love stories I've seen, and there wasn't even any kissing).

I went to see Fanaa for a third time last night. Siiiiigh. So good. The theater was full, even on a Sunday night. Still wonderful. There really is nothing like watching Bollywood on big screen. And I cried (again) and that moment of Kajol letting go and spinning during 'Des Rangila' still makes me giddy with joy, and I have a new favorite moment: when Kajol and Aamir are bathing Rehan Jr and Kajol goes 'Rehan, look up' (to her son) and Aamir looks up. Guuuuuh. It just gets to me. And his in her lap at the end is seriously sob sob sob territory. To complete the wonderfulness, after the movie I asked the theater person if I could buy one of the movie posters (being a polite girl) and he was so nice. He told me I didn't need to buy and asked me which movie and gave me a huge, gorgeous poster with Kajol and Aamir's faces on top and that bit with him in her lap in the snow (from the part of MHM that wasn't in the movie) and I love it. Thank you, lovely person! There were Krrish posters everywhere and the movie looks soooo deliciously tacky. Oh Hrithik. Why can't you make ONE good movie where I can enjoy the flick AND you at the same time, and keep my self-respect?

And thinking of Fanaa, I decided to rewatch the 'Suraj Hua Maddam' number from Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham to see if 'Mere Haath Mein' from Fanaa replaced it as a favorite. It was a close thing, but no. Nothing is as surreally beautiful as SHM. Still, like that other contender, 'Roshni Se' from Asoka, MSM came close but didn't win. So here is the youtube video of this song. Do check it out! The first minute or so is actually not the song but the moments in the movie that lead to it. Basically, the really short synopsis is that he is the eldest son of a really rich, proper, proud family. She is a madcap girl who is from a very poor area. Completely ineligible, in short. Not to mention his family is about to finalize his engagement with an entirely suitable girl. But they are OTP and he defies his family and marries her even when he gets disowned. And that's only the first half of the movie! But anyhow, this is right when they discover they are in love with each other. Pyramids, colors, and passion

Also, being tired in the morning, and needing a shot of wangst to get me up and moving, I rewatched the ending og Meteor Garden, the part where they both go on a hunger strike, and the evil mother lets them talk but only through a door so they can't see each other and he tells her he misses her and there are tears. Heeeee. It's the perfect thing I needed: being angsty, resulting in a HEA, and also full of cheese. Actually, since HYD anime had a similar storybit (evil Mom locks up and restrains Our Hero so as to force him into marriage), I am wondering if it was in the manga (please say it was!) Though I can't see how it would have gotten resolved there, because manga went on for volumes and volumes after that so it's not as if Mommy Dearest gave up. Also, I am amused by the fact that he's been on a hunger strike for days but the girl is doing it for less than a day, but she is almost as ill as he is. He doesn't look like he has fat deposits though :P

I am also reading Autumn Bridge, by Takashi Matsuoka, which isn't bad, is set in 19th century Japan, but is unfortunately a sequel to a previous book, with same characters and all, a fact which would have been useful to have on the cover. And being lured by the evil of Netflix, I've netflixed Felicity, Alias, Dawson's Creek and second season of cracktasticness that is One Tree Hill. And has anyone watched The Lake House with keanu and Sandra Bullock? Is it worth $10 and two hours of my time?

And last, but not least, a gazillion Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna came out over the weekend. It looks TO DIE FOR and I can't wait for the movie. I am sure most of you have already seen the stills, but nevertheless, here they are.

And now I melt into a puddle of goo:

You do NOT want to know the rating of thoughts that went through my head when I saw this one:

Break my heart, will you?

SRK and Amitabh. I am sooooo glad they get scenes together. Watching them act with each other is one of my all time favorite things:

I don't know why, but I just love that shot. The autumnal New Englandness of it is beautiful. SRK and Kirron Kher, who plays his mother:

KJ really does love this platform, doesn't he? First its use in KHNH, now this. I do love how so many of the images of SRK and Rani highlight their loneliness and isolation. There aren't that many hyper, joyful images. The whole thing feels elegiac:

Rani Mukherji, playing a woman who is dissatisfied with her marriage until she finds love with an equally married SRK, looking equally isolated:

More loneliness:

And angst:

Preity Zinta (playing SRK's cold, successful wife) looking chic:

Finally, a sport that an actor knows how to play (I am looking at you, KKHH and your idea of basketball!):

Attack of the 50-ft man:

Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherji's (uber-hot) husband, looking pimpalicious:

Abhishek and Rani in happier days. I do find it interesting (and grown-up) that the write-up indicates that Rani and Abhi are having 'bed' issues, aka he just doesn't do it for her in bed. But then apparently she finds passion with SRK that she doesn't have in her marriage. I do like that it doesn't seem that the movie is making the spouses evil monsters. Just perhaps not compatible. And I am writing a dissertation here, so I better stop. Also, if you can't find passion with Abhi, you have to be a bit cold :) But then even a woman who isn't into it with Abhi should certainly be into it with SRK, so I am glad Karan realizes that :P

Rani looking wistful:

And lonely:

Amitabh suffering under attack of fugly clothes:

I love this shot. So domestic. A girl and her father in law:

Is Preity a Mommy? Do SRK and Preity have a kid? This makes the affair so much more complicated. Argh.

Awwww:

More images of isolation and unhappiness:

Is it me or does she look brittle?

Happier:

There are no words for how much I love this shot and the awkwardness:

I keep changing my mind about what my favorite shot is:

Abhi and Preity:

This looks really dramatic. Wife and OTP. Two different people. Hmmmm:

My favorite shot:

Preity Woman:

Abhishek looking intense:

Talk about an unhappy marriage. Look at the look on his face:

Loneliness:

Cute!

Uncluttered shot of Abhi and Rani:

More Abhi/Rani:

Uncluttered Abhi and Preity shot:

"How can you like him? He is shorter than me!"

Okaaaaaay?

No idea what's up with this shot, but I love it:

Rani:

Drama:

Yes, more angst:

Why are my sympathies gathering in the Abhishek corner? I sure hope the movie pulls off making me like Rani-SRK more than Rani-Abhi because on the fangirly levels of my demented brain, Abhi so does it for me where Shahrukh doesn't. And while I looooove Shahrukh in all his gorgeous romantic hero playing self, as well as in comedy and charisma and yeah, really do like the guy, Abhi is just hot. How could Abhi not do it for Rani in the sack?

The lonely shot of him? I melt. MELT. But I also love the idea his character's is an ass. I don't know.

I think I'm going to be having a love affair with this film's cinematography (and cheating on my cinematographery husband, Ravi K. Chandran who did Paheli and Fanaa and Black and Yuva and DCH), though. Most definitely.

You know, at first I thought Preity was looking finest in this film but now I'm not so sure. She looks a bit ..tense, fake, everything her character probably is in the film. She's prettier as the bubbly, charming characters she's played in other movies.

But back to Fanaa, I just re-watched the bath scene and omg, you're right, he does look up. Such a small gesture and yet so perfect. Christ, why can't the DVD be out by now? :( I just talked with stimpy about this and we figured August at the latest. On one hand I love the idea of a Fanaa DVD arriving on my doorstep on my birthday (Aug 2) but on the other hand I want it now.

How could Abhi not do it for Rani in the sack?

Maybe he has no finesse? :P I won't have such a problem, because much as I love Abhi, SRK does it for me in a way no other actor ever did, so...

It does seem that of the 'spares,' Abhi is the nicer than the shallow, laquered Preity. But then he really likes breaking stuff so who knows...

) but on the other hand I want it now.

I want it now too!

Exactly. That picture with Rani holding her hand against the glass and SRK looking at her and they are both so heart-broken, kills me!

Hi, it`s me, Arwen from BollyWHAT. I´m staring and staring and staring at all the KANK pictures. Just beautiful.
You were asking about the Lake House with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Haven`t seen that one, but it`s a remake of a wonderful Korean movie called Il Mare. if you have the chance (maybe netflix has it) try to see it. The Korean lead actor is quite good looking... ;)

Hi!

Yes, KANK looks gorgeous. I love the shot of the four of them, how Preity is oblivious and SRK can't help but just look at Rani with an utter totality of his regard, and Rani is trying hard to maintain a facade and the way Abhi looks at SRK indicates that he knows the truth. Overanalyzing? Me? Nevah!

I've heard really good things about Il Mare, so I'll definitely see if Netflix has it. Thank you!

Olivier Martinez, because I've never done a picspam of him and he was to die for in Horseman on the Roof (one of the coolest love stories I've seen, and there wasn't even any kissing).

One of the best stories of restrained passion EVER. I voted for him! Loved that movie, loved him in it. He is just... Yes.

Oh wow! Someone else has seen it! It's such an intelligent movie and both his and Juliette Binoche's characters are so intelligently idealistically strong and heroic, but not in a boring, unrealistic fashion. And it's such a good character sketch of so many other, secondary characters. Love it love it love it love it.
