dangermousie | Veronica Mars latest, and Saiyuki still

Last night's ep (VM 2.19) was a good, solid ep. A pity first half of season was so lackluster, because the second one is quite good.

And the line of the ep honors go to Logan (but when do they not), with his "Last summer, I made this townie girl moan without using my hands." (or something to that effect) to Veronica. When you consider that last summer, it would have been either Veronica herself or some girl he picked up on rebound? ROFL. In fact, I think Logan making out is the least interesting part of Logan because then he isn't talking (though I certainly think it's a minority position).

I do love that they have playful banter now. They snark, but it isn't bitter. And as always, Logan does give the info that V was looking for (and I love that V was kinda 'I wish I was anywhere else' attitude about asking Logan about his sex life).

Awwww, V saved her father's life by emptying the gun of its bullets. Well, if Keith got almost shot now, I'd imagine that's his requisite 'Keith in mortal peril' scene and he is OK for the rest of the show.

So, Kendall is tied in with the Fitzpatricks. I wonder if there is some further connection between the Casablancas and the Irish gang. Oh well, I'll let VM figure it out.

Butters having a thing for Mac was adorable. If Beaver doesn't come through, she should hook up with him.

Wallace is rather boring me. Also, problems with Jackie going to Sorbonne: if the family assets are frozen, what is she going to pay for it with?

Weevil saving his fromer gang was great.

And Aaron, you clever, clever bastard. Even if it will suck for Logan, I hope you get off. Just don't bring Duncan back, please.

And now non-spoilery speculation on Logan Have you noticed that Logan's been having angst free eps lately? Name cleared, friendly with V, etc etc. Seeing how RT & Co. operate, the boy is overdue for a big doze of angst. What could it be? How about his abusive, murderer, videotaper of sex with Logan's gf father getting off? It looks likely, after all, with that statuette business. I am rather torn on this one, because it would suck beyond horribly for Logan, but OTOH I love watching Aaron who is as hard to look away from as a trainwreck, and Logan-Aaron scenes are my favorites, bitter and brittle as they are. The one problem with it is if Aaron got out, I can't imagine Logan sticking around Neptune for any reason. He'd give a sizable donation and get into Alaska State or whatever, as far as he can get away.

But the best part of last night's ep was the promo Yeah, yeah, evil stalker. Blah, blah deadly surprise. Who cares when we get Logan and Veronica. Talking. At Prom? Yes, I am that shallow and that easy. I am a shipper after all.

To completely switch gears, watched more Saiyuki eps last night. Sanzo's notion of hands-off parenting cracks me up, and I loved Gojyo cruising for women but getting stuck with the little girl and helping her out instead. The fact that Sanzo has a celestial credit card that he tells Hakkai to use because he isn't the one who has to pay it is priceless. I also started on the flashback arc which introduces how the four met, and so far I love it. I love Gojyo and Hakkai's bonding (and how badly was Hakkai wounded if he was unconscious for a week?). And Gojyo fighting Sanzo to protect this guy whose name he doesn't even know. I think he really saw similatrities between him and Hakkai (I love the bit where Hakkai talks about Kanan and he is horrified that he felt no premonition when she was taken aand tortured but was instead playing with his students). And I love Hakkai beating Goku and escaping, but only to complete whatever last thing he had to do, and then he'd come back for whatever punishment. And Gojyo saying that once Hakkai completes his task he will die because that's the kind of person he is to which Sanzo grumpily rejoins that he's been ordered to capture Hakkai so how does Hakkai dare die on his own good time? Heh. Hakkai's utter gentleness and complete deadliness is totally for meeeeeeee, because it's a huge kink of mine. I also love the similarities Sanzo sees between himself as a young boy and Goku, the whole 'why would enlightened Monk so and so take in this urchin?' I love it when he takes Goku with him on his trip. And they do have an explanation why the kid eats this much: he's been starved for years.
