Thoughts on the newest VM
Apr. 11th, 2006 10:01 pmThoughts on the latest VM ep.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Flashback to Logan and Veronica making out. Let me get my coherency back. Does that mean we get V/L making out every ep 18? Yay.
Long minutes pass.
We learn a number of really interesting things this ep.
1. Who is Lucky? He appears to be the one in charge of class war, not Logan, if his pre-emptory summons to Logan during that are any example. Or whatever else they could have been about: he is not acting like a janitor but like a boss.
2. Dick and the girl on the bus who wanted to get pregnant by him. How does this tie up to anything?
3. "Gay kid" tossing tickets away. Hmmmm. What is that about?
4. Brokeback Mountain gag, with Dick going "I wish I knew how to quit you" to Logan and touching Logan's mouth made me diiiiiiieeeeee.
5. Wallace being partnered with Logan. Yay! And you can see Logan being a bit nervous and quickly hiding it. "You don't like me much?" "Last time I talked to you, you were bashing out Veronica's headlights." "Foreplay." ROFL.
But what I love the most, is Logan being mad at that girl who is beating Veronica for the scholarship. And his look when she says (about Veronica) "someone has to do the football team." If looks could kill. I love that he tells her that now Stanford fulfilled the bitch quota. And the fact that Wallace and Loan end up working really hard on their project to help Veronica (through getting bitch girl's grade down). And I love that Wallace realizes that Logan wants to help V no matter how much he denies it (and his attitude correspondingly mellows A LOT).
But word to you, Wallace. Last ep, you tried to make out with a girl while you had another girlfriend, and this ep you are watching "Tinseltown Diaries" in Logan's room, when Logan will be back any second? And you don't switch it off when he comes back, either. That's not nice. You are fast rolling downhill.
6. Woody's payout to Rhonda's family. Is it really for the burgers?
7. I am not keen on the weird 'V talks to dead people' scenario, even though it's supposed to be her subconscious helping her figure things out. But interesting point that it must have been someone who knew where the bus was, ergo one of the people in the limo. Hmmm.
8. Outing of all outings. Who? Woody? That would tie in with the baseball stadium thing (the gay kid who went to it).
9. Policies on Dick and Beaver? I bet it wasn't Big Dick but Kendall. Of course, once V learns this, why does she persist in thinking it was all about her? I did like that scene with Beaver. There is some major Dick resentment there.
10. OK, V, stop being so bitchy. Logan telling V she looks like Steve Buschemi? Teasing. Telling him that you can't believe Hannah hadn't contacted him? Bitchy. Learn and love the difference. If Wallace is telling you to cut the guy some slack, it's time to do so.
Overall, not bad, but not as good as last week's.
And in conclusion, Dick Casablancas IS the bastard child of Satan.

Date: 2006-04-12 02:20 am (UTC)I actually thought Veronica was just being snappy with Logan because she was really tired. There was no bite; she really wasn't that into making him feel bad. And the Hannah bit revealed to me that maybe she was a little jealous. Things slip out when you're exhausted and frustrated.

Now that you mention it, I can definitely see that. So on second thoughts, it doesn't bother me any more.
The dream sequences were a much more visually and dramatically interesting way to show V's thought processes that having her do a monologue for half the ep. I find flashbacks a bit blurry generally, but that's probably my crappy TV.

Date: 2006-04-12 02:51 am (UTC)The dreams definitely allowed the episode to come off as more noir, I think. I feel your pain about the blurriness. I don't have cable, so VM is always scratchy for me, especially the flashbacks/dreams.

I loved that too. One could easily think he's referring to her comments to Dick, his supposed friend, but I also thought he was referring to her comments about Veronica's supposed sluttiness. Glad I'm not the only one who saw it that way.

WORD.
Dick Casablancas IS the bastard child of Satan.
I said bastard child of Aaron Echolls a few weeks ago, but same difference, right?
V/L making out is never bad, but I do wish they'd shown more of their faces. On the other hand, it was a nice view of Dohring's back and arms, so I can't complain.

Exactly. I don't think he was too bothered about Dick. Would Dick care about summer school? No way. He doesn't even have to graduate, he has his trust fund.

Date: 2006-04-12 03:56 am (UTC)as for the rest..i completely agree with you. Hot V/L making out, cute banter in the begining, Dick and Logan broke back (don't forget "It's not me, it's Wu"!!), Logan and Wallace...so much goodness in one episode!

Date: 2006-04-12 06:18 pm (UTC)You know, when I heard that line, I was thinking of the outing to the baseball stadium. As in, the field trip would be an 'outing to remember' (i.e. "yay for the field trip outing where everyone dies!!", it sure would be one that blew the other field trips out of the water, no pun intended.), not in the way Veronica thought as in gay out of the closet. RT is too good at this. It kills me!
