I have installed GOMPLayer last night (MPCPlayer went weird recently and refused to play .rm and .rmvb files. I am going to uninstall and reinstall it, but I needed a quicker fix last night) thus bringing the total of vid players on the computer to five. I have RealPlayer (came with the computer and is most useless. I think I used it once). Windows Media Player (came with computer but I updated it to the newest version. I don't generally like using it, but I need it for the hardsubbing program), VLC Player (is OK as a backup for avi files playing), MPCPlayer (my favorite until it acted up, as it would play partial files even) and now GOMPlayer (which I checked and is awesome and does play *knock on wood* every file known to man). I think I am running out of players :D

Last night we watched two more Doctor Who eps, which were even more awesome: ‘Tooth and Claw’ and ‘School Reunion’ (Queen Victoria one, and the supernatural school one). (We were discussing Dr. Who on the way to dinner and the only reason we didn't watch more eps as soon as we got home was because I was installing computer stuff above. I think I have passed geek-territory a few miles back and entered even nerdier waters :D)

I loved them both.

In T&C, I love how Ten and Rose both have this touristy glee about being trapped in the most frightening, bizarre circs. They are used to danger and the only time they freak out is when there is danger to the other.

Oh, and DT’s Scottish brogue was yum.

I really really loved SR and not just because we got to see Giles again (and in a role which would have required Buffy stakification).

I found the whole story with the past companion, Sarah Jane, and how it relates to Rose and Ten very interesting.

Because that is Rose’s future, isn’t it? She is going to be left behind and nothing in her life will ever compare with being the Companion, and no man will ever compare with the Doctor.

And that is the thing. She WILL lose. I can go all shipper and argue that Nine/Ten loves her the way he didn’t love any companion prior (which might or might not be true. With my shipper goggles on, I prefer to believe it, but I am fine if that is not the case) but still. Can he take her on adventures when she is seventy? Can he watch her grow old? I think not. Part of the reason he left SJ is probably because he didn’t want to witness the decay.

He is doomed to be alone. It reminds me of a Russian movie I used to love, ‘An Ordinary Miracle’ a fairy-tale for grown-ups. The main plot involved a princess and a bear turned human (but who would revert to bear upon a kiss) but the framing story was different: all this was going on because a Magician would do anything to amuse his wife. He was immortal and she…weren’t and his feats were as much to distract him from that thought than anything else: the divide between them was great (and she would rather he not do such god-like cruel magic tricks but that is another matter).

It’s the same, isn’t it? No wonder SJ and Rose, after sniping at first, find so much in common.

I did love the confrontation between Ten and Rose, where she is almost demanding to be told he loves her, and he almost does. *swoon*

Also, I loved that he was so tempted to join the bad guys, to be able to fix the world, to go back, to not have everything he loves die on him.

In completely other news, LOL, this is what I got from Drabblematic (you plug in names, nouns, adjectives etc, and it gives you a drabble). http://www.prillalar.com/drabbles/. It’s rather oddly fitting for Hana Kimi. Why, yes, I have Hana Kimi on the brain:

Tenderly Tripping

Mizuki tripped along longingly. She was on her way to meet her lover, Sano, for Valentine's Day. She smiled to see a chicken hopping along, carrying a bread in its mouth.

Mizuki was almost on the grass when she came across a cute cake, lying alone on a dorky plate. "That must be a treat from my grumpy bear," she said to herself, and tripped over to it. The cake looked bouncy, so she ate it.

It gave her the most incandescent tingling sensation in her lips. "How unusual!" she said and continued tripping to see Sano.

When Sano came out to meet her, he took one look and fell over.

"What is it?" Mizuki cried loudly.

"Your hand! And your leg!" Sano said. "They're tired! Can't you feel it?"

Mizuki felt her hand and her leg. They were indeed quite tired. "Oh, no!" Mizuki said. "I'm a man!" She, or rather, he started to cry. "It must have been that cute cake you left for me. Did you know what it would do?"

"I didn't leave you any cake," Sano said. "I got you a room. It must have been that romantic man who lives nearby. He acts a little shakily, ever since he hugged a shirt."

"But how can you ever love me, now that I'm a man?" Mizuki sobbed.

"Well, I never knew how to tell you this," Sano said groggily, "but I actually prefer men. And I think your hand is really quiet like that."

"Really?" Mizuki dried his tears. Mizuki kissed Sano and it was an entirely sweet sensation, like a jumpy jumping thing.

They spent the night having entirely sweet sex, until the cake wore off suddenly.

Everything was rather awkward after that.

Oh, and because I am incapable of ending without vids it seems, here is an unspoilery MV for my next period drama, Romance of Red Dust, which is an adventure/romance about enemies (he is a rebel and she is an assassin sent to kill him) falling in love with each other. Vid’s worth watching even if you have no interest in the drama, as is very pretty. Rather Bollywood looking.

Also, because [livejournal.com profile] calixa posted about it, Sound of Colors, about a spunky blind radio host (she) and a gentle manga artist (he) moved hiiiigh on my list. Romance and cuteness and angst. What could be better? Think ‘Silence’ only somewhat less depressing.
