VM, 2.10: One Angry Dangermousie

Three good things, and three only.



1. Lamb without his shirt. Blah blah blah plot. Who cares. Me and BFF both squealed.

2. Wallace is back!!!!!!

3. And by far the best scene: Logan watching the tapes of Lilly and Aaron in the hotel room and crying. And erasing them. And buying them. And Keith finally coming to understand Logan. Oh God, Logan's devastation. Yes, it's not rational to erase the tapes and counterproductive, but I can see why he could not bear the rest of the world seeing this (especially after he realized how eadily it could be seen). Of course, earlier Logan scene was great too.

The rest? Sucks. The jury plot was boring, contrived, hackneyed and legally? Not very accurate. Veronica is a sucky jury foreman and the college contrivance sucks.

Also, Dick doesn't mind anything she did to him (or Daddy) but be on a jury which convicts two random 09ers makes her an outcast? Yeah.

Meg dies? How tiresomely soap opera. Any minute Veronica's evil twin will appear.

And what made me boil. Duncan. Fucking Duncan. And Veronica still doesn't blow and he is still a Saint. Ugh. Why do I even bother?

Oh yes. See, I hoped it would be good as I actually liked most of this season. But this? least favorite ep ever hands down.

What really sold the shirtless!Lamb moment was that it was completely gratuitous, and the writers didn't care who knew it. It was like, "Okay, dialogue. We can do that. Security plot? Check. What are we missing...eye candy! We need eye candy!" At least, that's how I imagine the writing process goes.
I don't think Meg dying is soap operatic, because, well, she fell off a cliff into the ocean, while pregnant, and had been in a comatose state. Her death wasn't very dramatic, or shocking, and I don't think it was played for a dramatic reaction.
I really liked the Logan-Keith interaction, it's a relationship we haven't really seen that often. For obvious reasons.
I was sad when Meg died, but I only started actually crying when Wallace came back. How did we live without him? I can't remember. I must have been distraught. Really, I forgot how very much I love Wallace.
Was it Dick that vandalized her car? It could be any 09'er, right?

It could be any 09er, but she did refer to not being welcome at Dick's NY party. Which is dumb. He got over everything else she did but not this? Come on.

Meg's death is soap operating. And silly. She should have died on the bus. Or not at all.

There is NO reason to care about the mystery this year btw. No emotional connection. We don't know those bus people from a hole in the ground (which is what they currently are). I am invested in Felix's murder because Logan might go to jail. And the bus? Who cares.

She might not be welcome back because other 09'ers are angry at her, not necissarily just Dick. As we've seen, just because its a person's party doesn't mean they have any control over what happens.
Soap operating?
I care about the bus exactly because we don't care. So far it's not all that compelling, which I take to mean that its resolution will be awesome beyond belief. This could possibly be connected to my inability to say anything negative about Veronica Mars.

Great point. I posted about how I felt we should have gotten more of the jury stuff (or had it better done at least) if we're to believe that's why she's fallen from grace again but I didn't even think about the fact that Dick had a much better reason to want her as an outcast. GAH. How could they not think of that?! I do have to wonder if Veronica and Duncan broke up here and we just didn't get to see it (or were supposed to take the lunch conversation as a break up?) because that would help explain it a little bit. Not having Duncan as a boyfriend would make it much easier to use the jury thing to make her an outcast again.

Also. Preach it regarding Duncan. For an episode entitled "One Angry Veronica", Veronica sure doesn't show nearly enough anger... and certainly not enough anger at Duncan. Unfreakingbelievable.

I'm still pissed off that Meg died. I know it is medically possible(I've heard of someone dying the same way, in an Unsolved Mysteries case, the Donnie Hanson case, IIRC, and pro wrestler Chris Candido died like that days after suffering a broken leg in a match earlier this year), but still, it was so anticlimatic, considering the alternate ending. I expect more from RT than what is generally seen as a fluke. How could you, RT, how could you kill off Meg? Oh well, I hope that Alona Tal gets a chance to shine. I think she'll be great.

At least Wallace is back. It was cool that he showed up on Veronica's door.

And what made me boil. Duncan. Fucking Duncan. And Veronica still doesn't blow and he is still a Saint. Ugh. Why do I even bother?

Word. Veronica really needs to get her head out of her ass regarding Duncan.

Next new episode in January, but I have to re-tape Driver Ed, CCBB, and Green-Eyed Monster anyway, because of earlier picture issues when Time Warner got UPN New Orleans back after Katrina(For DE, it was because I had to tape it at my aunt's house next door, as she has DirecTV).

Didn't he decide to be done with her for good BEFORE she died? Oh, and didn't he KNOW she was cheating on him? Yeah...that's someone I'D label as the love of MY life.

The love of my life bit didn't bother me (I wrote a post today that sort of went into why) because so far, she is. He's dated her for years versus months, and it's not as if V was a wonderful girlfriend. Lilly cheated on him with Daddy and jerked him around, but V jerked him around just as much, turned him in for murder, got him beaten within an inch of his life on the bridge, and dumped him at his lowest point.

The boy really needs to reassess his taste in women.

I just feel so awful that the girl Logan chooses to identify as the love of his life, didn't even bother NOT to screw around with his dad. It makes me sad, because you just know he feels like it's something he deserves. The boy has NO stable relationship that I can think of.

It makes me horribly sad too. Because let's face it, Logan would make many a girl a wonderful boyfriend. And he's a pretty OK human being too. But he clearly thinks he doesn't deserve or have anything better than Lilly, Aaron etc (which goes with abuse of course).

I mean, look at his nearest and dearest:

Dad: abuses him and is a sociopath
Mom: does nothing to protect him and kills herself leaving him with said sociopath
Duncan: do we even need to go into this
Veronica: ditto
Lilly: jerks him around on a chain and cheats on him with his father (!!!)

The boy doesn't have a lot of options, does he? poor guy.

Yeah, the jury thing didn't make a lot of sense to me. Was the girl a hooker or not? I couldn't really follow that. And given her own sexual abuse, Veronica didn't seem as angry as maybe the title would suggest. Plus, why was she like the head of the whole case? I missed the very beginning of the post-credits part, so if it was explained then, I didn't see it.
I loved the Logan scene, but it seems to me if Logan really wanted to help Lilly, he wouldn't have destroyed the tapes. I can see why he did it, but still.

I logged back in just to hear some sanity about this. I could NOT believe Veronica's total non-reaction to Duncan. "Oh, you got another girl pregnant and didn't tell me? Let me fake you an ID so you can go see your baby-momma." Pul-eeeze! WTH was that about?

Yeah, the two seconds of shirtless Lamb were definitley the most interesting moments of this ep. The plot contrivances were pretty bald and kind of ugly.

I am afeared! I am afeared to watch this episode! It sounds so horrible. :( But, at least there's Logan scenese like you say. Also, I will look out for shirtless!Lamb and Wallace coming back (yay!)

Yup. Just concentrate on Lamb's pecs and Wallace being back. And that last Logan scene is one of my fave Logan scenes ever.
