a.k.a. a post in which [livejournal.com profile] dangermousie brings you the latest fics in her latest fandoms that caught her attention. If you know me, you know these are likely to be angsty and, if shippy, canon-compliant.

Veronica Mars

A Better Girlfriend than a Sister. Duncan/Veronica. Not that way.

Tangled Veronica/Logan. Sorta Au near end of S1.

Optican Illusion in Black and White a look at a certain scene in "Rat Saw God" V/L sorta.

Whispered Everywhere Effects of Lilly's murder and Veronica's rape on everyone. Warning, NC-17

Dark Angel

Miles a heartbreaking Logan/Max story.

Driftwood M/L end of the world. I know I overuse the term, but it really reads like poetry.

Scattered a Logan story. And it's not hideously angsty either.

Humidity Alec angst. Elegant, amazingly written angst.

Chrome More Alec angst. I love the sense of isolation and acceptance in this one.

Farscape

The Changeling Post PKW, a really dark, really beautiful story about Crichton falling apart (and no, it's not Dark!fic, despite what it seems like in the first part).

Battlestar Galactica

Reckoning A Helo and Chief story post-Pegasus. Frakking brilliant.

A Girl to Follow Around Kara, Helo, Anders, Lee. Sorta. The best Kara and Helo fic I've read (not in a shippy sense).

One Taste of the Apple a Kara and Lee in the Academy fic. [livejournal.com profile] brynmck is one of my fave BSG writers for a reason.

Humidity is a great piece, probably because that's how I see Alec too in ways. It's sort of cool to see a character who ISN'T one of those non-conformists who fights the system and stands up for all that is good because of their impecable morals. Reality is more blurry than that and for every Max you've got 100 Alecs, people who can make right decisions but either won't or have been forced in some way to conform. It's the Anakin type thing were instead of making the right choice and stepping back from the edge, they just sort of plunge over because they think it's the RIGHT thing. I wouldn't say Alec was as far gone as all that, but he has very few morals and was a good Manticore at one point.

And now he isn't, but in many ways the choice has been made for him and that's what makes him interesting.

What also makes him kind of interesting is that you see him lose comparitively little sleep over a lot of moral issues. "Berrisford Agenda", yeah, there's a lot of angst, but for the most part he's pretty happy go lucky.

And RE: the hair issue. As you can see, they've darkened it for Supernatural.
