Thoughts on Veronica Mars: 2.02
Oct. 5th, 2005 10:06 pmSaw 2.02 Very well done.
OK, first off? Veronica and Duncan have sex? Pass me the lye. I need to scrub my eyes out. Please don't tell me that wouldn't bring up the pseudo-rape issue. Ugh. I am still recovering. No. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
But it was almost totally worth it to get that Logan/Veronica scene afterwards. Guuuh, all that bitterness and unfinished business? When he tells her that "if cuddling is the best part, than he just isn't doing it right," guuuuuuuuh. He is trying to be snarky, but it just doesn't work. He sounds more sad than anything. I must admit that my mind went just straight to the gutter where I guess Logan demonstrates the difference. :P No prizes for guessing who'd be better.
And I love how Veronica automatically tried to find out who was in the room with Logan. Because that's jealousy, pure and simple. They are not together any more, there's nothing illegal about him having sex in a hotel room etc etc, but she tries to find out right away.
OK, note to TPTB: Logan and Veronica have more chemistry in that one little scene than Duncan and Veronica with the sex. So do something about it. Give me more L/V scenes. They don't have to be making out, I just want some interaction. The making out comes later.
In other V/D news, Veronica continues her happy denial with Duncan but the cracks begin to show: his complete ability to ignore the bus crash really annoys her. Maybe she'll realize avoiding is not coping.
Veronica and Duncan together annoy me. Really really really. You know, how I liked Logan the more I saw of him? The more see of Duncan, the more I want something to fall on his head.
But I love Veronica by herself: she is certainly a lot more like V 2.0. Her edge is beginning to emerge.
The new girl who is clearly here only to be Wallace's love interest? *Yawn*
Daddy Mars is running for Sheriff! Yay!
I love Veronica getting some of her edge back, slamming that girl's locker, being back in the investigation room etc.
Logan? Still screwed up. I loved the scene at the shooting range, where Mr. Casablancas tries to tutor him about "life philosophy" and Logan says his Dad used to share it, only his Dad was a murderer. Heeee. Also loved the bit when Dick says they should have girls over to the house and Logan replies he lives by himself and Dick replies that only crazy girls want to go to the house of the murderer. I love Logan's reaction (hurt? rage? vulnerability? mix of all those?) which is so quick and he suppresses it but not entirely. It really must be hideous for him to stay in that house.
Kendall and Logan crack me up. There is no annoyance there probably because I am shallow shallow shallow and there is shirtless Logan. Also, Beaver finding out Stepmommy cheated? Yes. Because I foresee drama!
The bus driver thing is interesting. The plot thickens: the Veronica Mars written on the guy's hand? Creepy.
The promo killed me. I can't wait to see Veronica's reaction to who Kendall's boytoy is. Also, whoever caused the crash wanted to kill her? Please don't let it be Logan. Please, please, please.

Date: 2005-10-06 02:27 am (UTC)Yeah, at that point my Logan love just, like, exploded. Can I love him any more than I already do? No, no I can't.
Uhm, I definitely think he was hurt, but it didn't show and also he's kind of used to his gf's sleeping with other people. But the SNARK. It was beautiful, and him leaning and fixing his shoe while talking to her. That just hammered Veronica's pain in, like woah, 'cause he's not even trying to hide it.
And Veronica, how could you think he'd just wait for you? I'm sensing that someone's a little to full of herself right now.
And you know what the whole V/D sex scene was so funny to me, 'cause it was straight out of a fairytale fantasy of losing her virginity to her whit knight. But then she already lost her virginity in a really nasty way, and her knight is *really* not all its cracked up to be.
Duncan the lacking lover slays me, it's hilarious.

Yes. Because it really makes her realize that yes, it's over, and they are not a couple and he doesn't owe her anything. Hello, you moved on, why shouldn't he? They clearly have SO MUCH unfinished business.

Exactly.

Yes, seriously, he doesn't seem to have been all there :P Veronica is not giddy with passion (as she was with Logan in S1), it's more like "oh, it was pleasant." Not what I'd want.

Date: 2005-10-06 02:43 am (UTC)You know I just relaized that if, If, it's Logan I'll forgive him. I don't know why, but I will. I don't think I could ever not love Logan and it's making me scared 'cause Thomas has us sooo invested in Logan'c charcater that we (I) will let him ghet away with just about anything.
I'm a horribble person.

Date: 2005-10-06 04:30 am (UTC)Logan just killed me. He's hardly in the show tonight, it seems, and yet he continues to steal every fucking scene. And yes, I love V/L but I'm not bothered in the slightest by K/L or V/D. I feel certain that they're temporary, and yes, I like the angst, the UST, the drama, and the snark. I adore the hallway scene and the chemistry is undeniable, but I do not mind it being drawn out some, as long as I feel certain that they'll get together again eventually.
I like Wallace out on his own. I still love Keith. I also love Beaver. He's so adorably goofy.
I have high hopes for this season's mystery. I was wondering if I could be as interested, but so far, I'm very intrigued. And I'm forgetting a lot, but I've had a couple of glasses of wine. I just love my show right now.

True. I just got so spoiled, being able to watch the whole season in 3 days. The whole one-hour-a-week thing is torture.

Date: 2005-10-06 05:40 am (UTC)See, I didn't see it that way at all considering her father apparently has some sort of issue with Steve Guttenberg. So I'm fairly confident that we were just being introduced to her character this week and that more will certainly come of her. Especially considering the dynamic they're setting up is Veronica not liking Wallace's not!girlfriend.
Hee. I love her look of disapproval.

Date: 2005-10-06 01:53 pm (UTC)I do hope she is more than a love interest. If her father is in any way important to the mystery, then they can do what they did last season with Aaron: have an excuse to always have him around because he's the girl's father and Wallace is around the girl because he likes her.
