I am on my exciting (or not) Buffy rewatch. So far? Pilot episode, "Welcome to the Hellmouth."

* Xander. When he was still cute. How can you not like early BtVS Xander? In fact, early S1 was the only time I could see Buffy/Xander.

* I can't help it. While I can overcome seeing Willow as VM Logan's bitch sister, I cannot possibly disassociate Cordelia from the skank ho Kendall. In fact, I'd love to have a VM/Buffy cross-over where Cordelia goes to Neptune High (and is like Madison).

* Giles! Young looking Giles. He is adorable and a great Daddy figure (not yet) and I want a Giles of my own.

* The outfits and the hair are dated but nothing cracks me up as much as the make-up. Not only does Buffy wake up with blue eye-shadow already there, but she has more lipstick than Jackie does. Her mouth must be peeling off her face! But she herself is so endearing and I adore Buffy. I just want to smoosh her, though she could break my arms.

* Angel. It's kinda endearing how DB cannot act at all (he gets much better fast, but in WitH, he just says his lines). He is dead hot though, and I love how Buffy is checking him out. Also, I'd forgotten but he was a lot edgier and darker in S1 then subsequently.

* Darla! I remember watching "Roswell" and knowing she was up to no good because she is Darla.

* The dialogue just kills me, in a uniquely Joss way. I'd forgotten how brilliant it was. Favorite line? Jesse's "If you need a shoulder to cry on. Or to nibble on..."

Oh, I remember how much I disliked him back when I first started watching the series. (season 3)

You have to remember that they discovered him and apparently cast him when they saw him walking his dog in the park *laughs*

I loved all the Angel stuff in S2 and 3: DB was never the greatest actor but he improved a lot and more importantly, he had great chemistry with SMG and was so damn hot and I was such a sucker for the epic!love thing. I liked him in S1 too, actually, I must confess. I basically look at the pilot and go "he can't act, that is soooo endearing." I don't know why. Maybe because I am easy :)

Keep in mind that when I first started watching, I had never seen season 2. Eventually, they started rerunning it during some sort of marathon, and I got a chance to see him act as Angelus. I know he's good now.

In the pilot, he looked sort of lost, since he had never acted before. Yes, it was kind of endearing. *laugh*

My first Buffy ep ever was "Go fish" which was 2.20 (I think). I know it's not considered to be the greatest, but I was hooked from the moment where we saw Buffy surrounded by these monsters about to munch on her and her response? "Great, now they are going to say I did it with the entire swim team" (paraphrase). I was a goner from then on.

As to Angel, he is still some of the yummiest eye candy evah :P

My first episode was "Dead Man's Party" in season 3. Having the walking dead crash a party was good, since it meant that was my kind of show. I think I was hooked from the moment Giles started ranting about Americans as he's going to be attacked by zombies.

"Oh, isn't it pretty? It raises the dead! Bah, Americans!"

That same year they banned the season finale around here, and I didn't get to see it until July.

Oh yeah, the season finale thing was because of Columbine (I think). Seriously, how much more civic minded can you be than students fighting to protect their school from the snake monster who is the Mayor. Talk about taking your civic duties seriously!

And I love it when Giles rants.

Yep, that's what it was.

They probably didn't want to give any graduating classes any ideas. Although, why they thought the graduating classes around here could get flamethrowers and lead a charge against vampires, I don't know...

Well, we had had a school shooting here, too, a year before...it was too soon for everyone to deal with that. That was also why they banned Earshot, and didn't air that one until August, I think.

As did I. Whenever Giles ranted, it was interesting and funny.

Hmmm. Maybe you should look into your town's history more carefully? Has the Mayor looked suspiciously the same for too long a period of time?

That was also why they banned Earshot, and didn't air that one until August, I think.

Aactually, I can see Earshot banning over the finale banning. But I do love that ep so much, and not just because Angel fed her a demon heart. Everyone's stream of consciousness is perfect.

Yes, Xander *was* cute. And SMG still had *curves*. And Darla...she was on CSI a couple of weeks ago. High-class vampirehooker. Perfect ;-)

Willow and Oz *sighs*

Yup, it was before SMG ended up waaaay too skinny. And her face has this adorable roundness.

Really? Heeeeee.

Willow and Oz *sighs*

*will not get bitter, will not get bitter, will not get bitter* Yeah, I know it is quite a number of eps until Oz but I miss him pre-emptively.

It's fun rewatching actually, since I haven't watched this for so long.

Hee! Oh, I hope you keep posting these, because I can always relive some early Buffy. DB was sooooo bad, and yet I loved him right away. I'm easy like that. And the dialogue! And just...the roughness of the whole show back then (even though I only watched on DVD years later). Good times.

Oz! Oz! It's sad that your icon is making me hyperventilate. Oz was by far the most dateable character on Buffy.

I'm easy like that.

Yeah, me too. I love me early S1, even though the show was still finding its way. It's the quips and the fact that even this early on, the cast had crazy chemistry.
