Snow Queen. I have just finished ep 5 and starting with ep 6 my DVD subs went wonky. Boooo. So the choice is either to watch DVDs with crappy subs or dl with excellent ones. So I dled. Not fond of it but oh well. I am definitely getting the YA DVDs when they release but no way can I wait that long to continue.

I confess that I literally screamed when Tae-Woong realized that Bo Ra was that little girl. OMG. His face! His face. And then he took off running, only to arrive to see her tell Geon Woo that even though she is sick, and bad-tempered, and doesn’t love him (with the implied ‘yet’ in there), would he like to date her.

OMG.

Sidenote: I love how he just takes off. It’s like everything clicks into place for him: the emotion he feels for grown-up Bo Ra (their chemistry is so intense) and the protectiveness he felt over that funny little kid when he was much younger. He doesn’t think, he reacts, the same way he doesn’t think and gets drawn into the world of math (loved that scene where he was solving the equation by himself in the hall and Prof. tried to drag him in and he went running. He cannot face his talents because it would be to face his loss. He needs to feel worthy to move on, and I hope he will). It’s just part of who he is: his talent OR his caring for Bo Ra. And that is why poor Seung-Ri (who I really like btw) never had a chance. He told her he doesn’t have peace of mind to love someone but look at him with Bo Ra: when you fall, you don’t think it all through, you just feel: he doesn’t have time to stop and analyze with her.

Have I mentioned, btw, how much I love how fast this drama moves? No dragging at all so far.

Anyway, to backtrack.

I love the scene in the college where he gets her to call him ‘oppa’ and she does and stick out her tongue at him and there is chasing and playfulness and they are so cute together. But then she faints and he takes her to the hospital and he is freaking out so much. He is so worried for her (and he is jealous of Geon Soo even though he doesn’t realize it himself).

He goes to his Mom again and she tells him she never wants to see him again (and yes, I am mellowing towards her btw) and…it’s like a blow. I bet so many of his hopes centered on being loved and forgiven by her. And he just wanders out in a daze, and he doesn’t come home to the gym, or to work, and Bo Ra is worried and actually goes looking for him. And then she finds him and he is a complete zombie and she is worried and angry and jealous (hoooo boy) and she is all ‘where were you? Did you get drunk? Did you meet a girl?’ and he tells her to leave him alone and then OMG he actually yells at her. You can tell how much he’s lost it because he is usually so soft-spoken. And she is so hurt and she starts running off and you know what I love? Despite his life lying in pieces around him, he has innate gentleness enough in him to run after her and apologize. And she is all ‘you haven’t even had dinner yet, right?’ and OMG OMG. They go to a really cheap noodle stand he likes and I love how she is a bit taken aback by it all but also interested and he actually opens up to her about his Mom and what she said to him (and yeah, I love how he says when he was a kid he hated noodles because that is all his Mom would feed him but now he’d never get tired of them. It is such a real statement). And she listens.

And then they take public bus home (heeee) and you know? She actually helps him, she gives him advice that is so good and gives him hope: she tells him to go see his Mom every day anyway, no matter what, and of course she is mad so she won’t forgive after a couple of meetings but eventually she will. And he does that and the scene where he hides with the electric heater and gives to Mom and says ‘I am off to work’ and walk away and then he runs and grins like a kid is adorable.

It is such a parallel because later he gives her good advice about her meds, he finds the right words (and I love how they understand each other instinctively, so well) to make her take them, which she is afraid to do as it reminds her she is ill. I love it. See, they are fixing each other already!

Oh, and I love the scene at the airport where he refuses to tell her why he didn’t meet that little kid (saying he’s forgotten precisely because he never will) and she gets so upset because it is so important to her but he has no idea what’s with her, and she tells him the truth but on purpose when the plane is noisy on the tarmac so he doesn’t hear, all he hears is her screaming her name at him (when they were kids, she told him she’ll tell him her name next time they met). And there is running on the tarmac and other awesomeness.

And then she basically asks him on a date (eeeee! Even if he is too dense to see it as such) to meet her at the amusement park (where they went) and tells him to show up ‘this time’ which he is puzzled by. But he sends Geon Soo instead as he thinks GS is who she wants (long story why but it makes sense) and I love how it’s totally unpalatable to him but he does it. And of course, she was going to tell him her true identity then, and is devastated when GS shows up instead because it seems like TW just doesn’t care at all. And he comes back to the gym to see her there, slightly tipsy and she tells him that yeah, GS might be who she wanted to meet, because she hates more than anything people who don’t even know what they did wrong, and he did it twice and he doesn’t even know he acted badly. And she walks off. And then he starts putting it together and realizes it and OMG OMG. And then we get the running mentioned above.

Hmmmm. In other ‘upcoming drama’ news, I am mildly interested in the kdrama Thank You which started today. Not as much as in the other three that start in March: The Devil, Que Sera Sera, and Hello Baby/Hello Miss, but still. The plot involves a pricky surgeon and a single mother whose child has AIDS because of a blood transfusion. It’s being subbed, too. Hmmm. I might check it out, though not too sure…I’ve seen the female lead before and liked her and I am always fond of doctor protagonists ;)

Oh, and how could I forget? Have I mentioned that the fact that there is a kdrama, namely Love Story in Harvard which is a totally typical kdrama in every other respect: love quadrangles, angst, rich people, weeping but it is set in Harvard makes me glee with the glee-est of glee? I have no desire to see it (because WTF factor is not enough to eat up 16+ hours of my time) but just the thought of it existing makes the world a better place.

And last but not least, the first ep of The Devil has aired and people are going nuts: that thread is moving psycho fast, with people posting ‘as you watch liveblogging spoilers’ (I started clicking and then had to force self to stop) and screencaps and eeeee. It’s an awesome feeding frenzy in there. And yes, there is a serial killer in the story. *meep*
