Relationship spoiler from BSG S3 that leaves me puzzled

Oh my. Oh my oh my oh my. It's a good thing I like BSG independently of the shippiness because talk about bizarre.



According to the link on syliasyliasylia's lj, not only is Kara married to Anders, but Lee is married to Dee. Whaaaaaaaa? K/L is not even my primary ship for the show (Helo/Boomer are) and I am taken aback. How? Why? Kara is all about latching onto people who give her uncomplicated affection and not too much attachment power (Zak, Anders). But Lee? With his lingering Kara issues (of which he is far more cognizant than Kara is of hers vis a vis him), with his commitment issues (see dead gf)? With the fact that I would have been happy to buy L/D if it was explained or developed better, but as it is was random and thrown together and rushed and we never got much of a glimpse into a relationship that would have made me invested?

Also, I just don't buy Lee as marrying on impulse or whim or what not. He is not Kara.

I really hope they know what they are doing. It's kinda ballsy to kill the K/L (because double weddings to diff people? Definitely huge), in light of both the actor chemistry, previous ship hints, and its fandom popularity.

Also, from what I can tell, even though I am H/B, isn't K/L the biggest shipping camp on the show? This is going to be ugly.

Honestly, even if Eick isn't just misspeaking (which, hey, has happened), I can't imagine why there would be some huge blow-up. I mean a lot of people already assumed that he was married to Dualla and I think the blowing up already sort of occured with Kara being married to Anders. And if not that, the other spoilers that I won't mention explicitly since I'm not sure you know about them.

Or, hey, maybe I'm alone in thinking, "Eh, whatever."

Seriously? You don't know about Kara shacking up with Leoben and some kid (theirs?) named Casey or summat?

Also, an addendum to my previous comment: considering how they were going Lee probably married Dualla in a fit of pique after Kara married Anders or something equally absurd. Not to mention Ron D. Moore's talk about Lee reevaluating his relationship with Dualla next season, which sort of doesn't bode well for the prospects of their marriage if it does indeed exist.

Oh, that one, about Leoben? Yeah, I heard that. I must admit, spoilers coming out sound very odd. Hopefully they'll work better than they sound, though there is no bad there, if they are done badly, it will be hilarious.

Dualla next season, which sort of doesn't bode well for the prospects of their marriage if it does indeed exist.

I guess ultimately my point is after Kara marrying Anders and Lee being fat and a year having passed and him and Kara apparently hating each other and Kara shacking up and having a kid with Leoben...Lee being married to Dualla, which people mostly assumed anyway, doesn't seem likely to make them explode or like mass exodus the ship if they're still on it at this point.

That's true. Could be last nail in ship coffin though. Oh well, we'll see. I assume the kid with Leoben is from the stolen ovaries (ahh, scifi I love you. Where else could I type stuff like that up) so it's not her choice. How charmingly homey they will be :P

Eh. Again, I'm over BSG canon, so I don't care either way at this point, but merely the fact that there were more Lee/Kara scenes last season than their other ships combined, and that a large portion of their other ship storylines were about how they reacted to each other's...other ship (most notably in Sacrifice and the finale) and even now when they talk about their marriages it's together and implicitly connected to their falling out...makes it seem sort of not dead since it still manages to be, in large part, all about Lee and Kara's relationship to each other.

I mean, whether anyone will care anymore or if there will be any semblence of the characters that they used to love left by the time they finally get around to it is the bigger issue than them never getting around to it, I think.

Same here! The shippiness for me is just a "bonus" when I like a show, it doesn't affect me negatively when something like this happens... I'm easy! Besides, Dee is so Doomed now... she is so going to perish with the Pegasus... :D

Being that after Sharon and Helo I don't get too overworked about Kara or Lee, I kind of figured that Kara and Anders were married already.

Plus even though there are a lot of Kara/Lee shippers I just don't see them being each others OTP, not like Sharon and Helo, not even close.

Lee being married to Dee that's a new one, but hey shes cute.

All I can say is Sharon and Helo forever.

I like Dee so very much, I will be sad if Lee marries her only because he can't have Kara. Though as I don't ship Lee/Kara the spoilers are less traumatizing than they are to some.

But this show sounds like it is going to be total crack next year. I have no idea what they are doing and I suspect they don't either.

Which is either a sign of my not caring about BSG or being totally ok with the other ships ('cos I think K/L is totally dead anyway) or SOMETHING. I dunno.

And that is actually the beauty of it all - if you think too hard at all about the stuff that happens, you will drive yourself crazy. But if you just sort of sit back, relax, and pay no head to the dictates of logic and reason, it's very enjoyable :P

Weirdly, I don't even think that it will never happen on the show - I actually still think K/L is their endgame. It's just that the writers kind of broke the relationship in such a way that even if they bring the couple back together again, it's not REAL any more, if that makes sense. And I'm still puzzled about why they made that choice.

Yeah, it makes sense to me. I am not as pessimistic about it being unfixable or in such a bad state as you are, but I do think they really got sidetracked, and before the bizareness in 2.5 any K/L would have been better than what they will get now (if they are happily moving on with other people, it does not a grand OTP make). Of couse, TPTb can prove me wrong, happened before (I got very annoyed with what TPTB of Veronica Mars were doing in the middle of the season with Veronica and Logan but by the end of the season it all fell in place and made sense and I loved it), but maybe I am just a huge optimist.

Oh, I am looking forward to it too. It will either be brilliant, which is great, or cracktastic, which is also great.
