dangermousie: (Mal/Inara by cassiee)

I am rewatching the perfection that is Firefly and am watching "Our Mrs. Reynolds." I am so full of giddy glee. Every time I just forget how perfect that show was, how funny and how sharp. Every time I get PISSED OFF that it got cancelled. I adored the movie, but the lack of BO means it is extremely unlikely there would be more, and I am selfish. Even though "Serenity" left us with a satisfactory conclusion (and was the best movie of 2005), I would have loved for it to be more. Not too much, because when Joss runs out of ideas he tends to heap misery that makes no sense (Buffy), but a season or so more. I love the characters, I want to see more of them.

And OMR. How hilarious. And I didn't notice before, but when Inara sees Mal married, she goes all still and you can see how much it bugs her. It's only after she realizes it's an accident and Mal isn't pleased, when she is emotionally off the hook that she can afford to go back to her usual "Mal, be a human being, don't insult the girl" stance. She can afford to be generous and tell him to be nice to Saffron precisely because he isn't. Yay.

And every time I see Wash and Zoe happy, I feel like crying a bit. And I love when Kaylee comforts the crying Safforn, Jayne, off to the side is slily touching her (Saffron's) shoulder. Heee.

Btw, [livejournal.com profile] femmenerd, are there going to be any more parts to your GORGEOUS Mal/Inara fic? Please?

Also, Mal is so my TV husband.

OMR is so fabulous. I love how flummoxed Mal is in that first discussion with the crew when, with the exception of Inara, they're all having fun at his expense.

*sigh* Every time I watch an episode I feel that little ball of frustration that sits right over my heart. It makes me want to kick a network executive. Hard.

I know. He is so frustrated but they are so amused, because hey, after all, it's not life threatening and it's going to resolve itself.

Yeah, me too. I tore through the eps last year, and in between psycho posting about it, I remember thinking "that's IT? There is NO MORE? ARGH" It's a measure of how much I adored this, that even the ultimate spoiler ho that I am, I stayed entirely unspoiled for the movie, because it could be the very last bit of Firefly and I wanted to go in cold (and it nearly gave me heart attacks).

Mmmm. Firefly is love.

I had a Firefly marathon with some friends a couple of weeks ago, and I think "giddy glee" perfectly sums it up.

Also, random trivia: The guy that plays the younger version of Simon in "Safe" is the main character in the Disney movie "High School Musical".

Yeah, giddy glee is perfect. Cute: re younger Simon.

Two or three seasons would have been good. Any more than that and Joss would have done something incredibly stupid.

I will say at least the movie was able to wrap things up rather than just leave the series dangling like most cancel shows are.

Agree. Three seasons would have been the most. After that Joss would have ran out of steam (see Buffy).

Yes. With "Serenity" even though I'd love more, I am happy with where we are left at. Yay.

Totally agree - love and miss Firefly And Mal is love.
I so wish they would make more movies or something - but I'm not sure how much story is left to tell - but Joss could probably pull it off.

Mal is definitely love.

There has to be a lot of stories left: after all, initially Serenity was optioned for a trilogy. Unfortunately, it was conditioned on it doing better than it did at the BO so I think it's dead.

Oh Firefly, how much I love thee. Seriously, that show made me so happy. Just watching the DVD's was competely gleeful. And I got my brother into it too, so I've got a nest of Firefly-love right here at home. Alas.

Firefly remains the only Joss Whedon show I've been really into. It aired on such a dumb timeslot in Finland, though (Wednesdays at either 10:30 PM or at times up to 11:45 PM, like WTF?). I have no idea if the film came out in theatres or not. I guess one could say I'm not into it enough to care whether the film came out, but I would like to see it so I'm hoping for a DVD release so I can go rent it or something.

I definitely loved all the canon pairings (Mal/Inara otp otp, Zoe/Wash too cute!) and was partial to reading some fanfiction surrounding not-so-canon couples like Jayne/River which I didn't was possible at all but hey, that's the beauty of fic. And the action in Firefly drew me in like no other show.

Oh, I loved all the canon pairings too. Mal/Inara are a huge OTP and I think Simon/Kaylee were adorable and Zoe/Wash one of the rare good protrayals of married couple. And the movie was AMAZING.

Its kind of sad that thsi series had the potential; to be another BSG, but the networks in their ultimate wisdom totally screwed it up.

I do think if it was on a smaller network, it would have lasted much longer.

Or if they had started it where it belonged, on the Scifi Channel. I think it gained a lot of fans when teh scifi channel started broadcasting re-runs of the series

Exactly. They really should have started it on scifi.

I am the girl who is always late nowadays what with my wandering ways.

I just watched that ep again too and...omg! yes.

And the answer to your question is that yes, there are (should be?) more chapters of that fic but I've been waiting until I have some peace and quiet and extended time for concentration to work on it, because it requires a lot of thought and *research*. Also, I just wasn't emotionally up for it for awhile there.

Yay, more chapters! Of course you should take as much time as you need, but just the thought of more of that fic feels me with glee!
