Ugh. Hot Gimmick is giving me ulcers. The anti-feminist, disturbing manga. Urgh.

I hate Ryo. Hate hate hate hate hate. I want something heavy to drop on him, and then as he is lying in the hospital, for a rhino to dance on his broken legs and then for someone with a bad STD to rape him. I would PAY for this scenario.

Problem? He is the fucking hero. Forget 'jerk.' How about 'abusive?' Total patterns. He keeps calling Hatsumi stupid repeatedly (and not the way it was in HYD where Tsukushi and Doumyouji were throwing it about equally, at each other, and by the end it was a freaking endearment). Here, Ryo means it. And how about calling her 'slave' and telling her 'shut up, I hate it when you talk.' I hate him. I want him to die. I want the rage I feel to stop.

No, bad boys aren't cool. And you know who is worse than a bad boy? An anti-social, abusive, arrogant freak. Hatsumi annoys the hell out of me too, because she keeps on taking it. OK, get a spine. Yeah, yeah, he is blackmailing you. Tell him where to stuff it. It's your sister's problem, not your own. Also, you have blackmail on him too. Tell him you'll tell his tutor about the virgin bit and his mother about the tutor. Get the guy who likes you or your tough elder brother to hit him in a dark alley. Kick him in the balls. Do something. And for heaven's sake, don't apologize. Whatever for?

This is like reading Eleanor Glyn, turn of century novelist. Or "The Sheik." Those books made me want to burn my bra (and I like my bras). This is evoking the same reaction. I keep reading because it's trashily addictive but also because I live in hope of something bad happening to Ryo.

I bought it, because it's easier to read, but the store has a return policy, and unless a miracle happens and my opinion changes (it's possible. With HYD I started wanting to smack the hero and ended up crushing on him), it's going to go back.

I actually don't hate him any more because EVERYBODY in this manga is no picnic. Heck, he is a prince compared to Azusa, who is all smooth-talking manipulatve bastard (I am in the middle of the second volume). I do hope he grows up. A lot. And has a lot of misery in the process.

But as of now, I'd advise the heroine to seriously think about lesbianism.

Well. If by 'better' you mean 'so cheesy and horribly acted it becomes a masterpiece of comedy.' And they actually took out the most offensive stuff in the book. E.g. in the movie Ahmed doesn't rape Diana but stops at the last second (Ahmed makes Ryo seem like a whipped, emo shrinking violet). Of course, in "The Son of the Sheik" movie, which was based on the sequel to the book, they included a rape which wasn't in the book. Good times.
