tinyangl’s awesome ep 2 recap/pic post of Hana Yori Dango 2, you’ll see from the preview caps that Akira’s house has that gigantic tacky bunny in the corner of the room. ROFL. *loves* I can’t wait! I am also betting the only reason Kaede didn’t deny Akira the house is because she doesn’t want to be bumped off by his dad. Who apparently loves silly women :D (OMG, his Mom is a FRUITCAKE, if that one pic is an indication. Heeee).
Also, from preview, it looks like the exact placement of Makino saying ‘good-bye’ is as she is walking away from Ebisu Gardens. So yeah, it looks like your plan to drive her off forever, Domyouji (if that what it was) has finally succeeded. I hope you are pleased with yourself. You know, I am actually really perversely looking forward to her giving up on him and then him not being able to deal with it. Yeah, yeah, I am a Domyouji/Makino shipper to the death and whatnot, but I want the shoe to be on the other foot for a bit. With him flipping out, and her pushing away pretending not to care even though she does.
Because as it is now, he totally knows she loves him and he still keeps pushing her away, cookie hoarding and burning stares of misery into mirrors notwithstanding. And I want him to deal with the fact that he’s pushed away the girl he loves. I want him to be the desperate one (well, he’d desperate now, but in a different way, whatever, you know what I mean). Maybe with some side of eventual groveling. Or making out. Whichever.
And I really want the damn onsen scene. Really really really.
Oh yeah, and even thinking about ep 7 of Nobuta Wo Produce makes me all verklempt. NwP will never be a huge marathonning fave (not enough narrative drive or romance) but the emotions hit so true it hurts.
Akira totally broke my heart in that ep. Getting all jealous and not knowing what to do with himself, and almost throwing away Shuji’s tape. And then when he tells Nobuta how he wanted to make a girl happy. (Nobuta, btw, even though a darling, is as thick as two thick planks because she doesn’t realize anything in the least). And watching that spliced tape and pausing on Nobuta. And when he tells Shuji he is going to give up on Nobuta because he made her cry and you are not allowed to make a girl cry. Oh Akira! They are all so dreadfully young. And his declaration of love to Nobuta in the empty school, with no one but Shuji to hear it ‘I like the sidewalk on which you walk…’ where he lists how he likes everything associated with her. I sorta died.
And I felt horrible for Shuji too, finally telling Mariko the truth, that he is not attracted to her. And you know, I wonder why he is so pathologically bent on pleasing others? To him, being disliked is the worst thing ever, and I love him falling apart on the playground and Nobuta’s wholly impulsive, awkward hug. And I love that he wants to go after her and tell her everything is OK (old Shuji, making sure no one is uncomfortable) but he doesn’t, which paradoxically shows his growth.
