Hana Yori Dango picspam
Feb. 8th, 2006 06:54 pmSince I've been talking about Hana Yori Dango (also known as Boys Over Flowers) so much (witness my earlier today, War and Peace sized post on the last episodes), here is some picspam to show what on earth I've been babbling about. Warning: most of these are "promo" shots so the colors are brighter. There are no real bright colors in HYD, as it goes for a faded pastel look.
Tsukushi and the F4:

Makino Tsukushi, all dolled up for a party. She is my favorite character, which is just as well as she is the main character of the show:

Doumyouji Tsukasa, my second favorite character. Tsukushi's Prince (not so) Charming. Unless this is flipped, is he left-handed? I knew there was a reason I liked him:

Awwww. Doumyouji kissing Tsukushi after rescuing her and getting her to his house. Enjoy it, because from then on it's dozens of episodes of kiss-less angst:

Shippiness:

Tsukushi. All pissed off:

Rui. Or Hanazawa Rui if you say it the way Tsukushi likes to. Only be sure to be breathless:

One of my favorite images from the show. Rui kissing the poster of Shizuka (a part-time model and his OTP):

Doumyouji carrying unconscious Tsukushi. Nothing like hypothermia to foster love:

For
aliterati, two of the "secondary" members of F4, Akira and Soujirou (and Tsukushi in the back):

The F4 auditioning for Chippendales? (l-r Rui, Akira, Doumyouji, Soujiro):

I like the sheer WTF of this pic:

Yuki. Tsukushi's coworker and close friend. And that's all I know about her:

Tsukushi looking all tarted up:

Shizuka. The impossibly beautiful (I'll have to take the characters' word for this), older One True Love of Hanazawa Rui:

Sakurako. Beautiful, troublemaking, and smackable. She is OK with Doumyouji being Tsukushi's but that's about the only concession she'll make:

Boo! Hiss. Doumyouji Kaede, the evil Bitch Queen of the Universe. Doumyouji calls her "Mom." Or "Bitch" depending on circumstances:

Junpei. A quiet, bespectacled student by day and a supermodel by night. And a leader of a gang of people after Doumyouji by...other night? A man of many parts, clearly:

Kuzuya, Tsukushi's noveau riche friend. Sweet and dim. Now if he'd only jump overboard somewhere:

Shigeru, Doumyouji's arranged marriage partner:

The trio of nasty girls at school who make Tsukushi's life hell. Well, it's OK. Now she can buy them all:

Doumyouji. Demonstrating that in addition to a lack of manners, his taste in clothes is also...undesirable:

Tsukushi in the bath:

Beefcake (Doumyouji. Looking a lot more well-kempt than I've ever seen him look in the show):

Cheesecake (Tsukushi):

"The Cast"

ETA: Heeee. I just read a synopsis of Meteor Garden, the Taiwanese live action adaptation of HYD. And oh my. I will certainly enjoy it. I thought HYD had plenty of angst and melodrama but apparently I aint seen nothin' yet. Gleeeeeeeeeee. (Though if Doumyouji's Mom is even worse in Meteor Garden, one begins to worry about any genetic doomedness of the OTP's offspring).

Date: 2006-02-09 01:28 am (UTC)This from the girl who watches Bollywood?
I was never too much for the anime style of this series, probably because their faces all look frighteningly like those punching bag clowns. Also, the bowl cut was NEVER cool.
So where are you off to now? Rurouni Kenshin (longest series EVER) or other places?
