Eeeeee! Just how good is Trigun? Just met Nicholas Wolfwood, an itinerant priest with more guns than an army who is not only sexy but has a portable confessional he insists on sticking on heads of people (ROFL) and he just gave some starving children candy and he is deliciously in your face. I am in loooooooooove. Now I can't decide if I like him or Vash better.

And my new official favorite scene in Trigun so far: Wolfwood breaks off in the middle of talking to Vash (they've just met) to give kids some candy and seeing the little scene Vash smiles. Wolfwood sees the really unguarded grin on Vash's face and goes: "Well, I'll be. You can smile like that" and when Vash, still smiling but faintly puzzled asks him what he means, Wolfwood replies "You're always smiling, real friendly like, but your smile is so empty it hurts to watch you." And then, as Vash's smile completely leaves his face, he finishes with "It's like you are hurting like crazy and grinning to hide it." And then, with Vash dead serious, Wolfwood goes goofy again and offers the portable confessional for a small fee.

Oh, and then there is the scene where the bus they are on is being pursued by mechanical monster thingies and a woman yells that her kid is missing and Vash and Wolfwood jump out of the bus in unison. And then they conduct a rescue and bicker at the same time. Well, "bicker" is not really accurate seeing that it consists of Vash grumbling and Wolfwood cheerfully ignoring.

So much love.

I need a Wolfwood icon.

I love "Murder Machines" simply because of the Wolfwood/ Vash interaction. Wolfwood and Vash are two sides of a coin. Vash is pacifistic at all costs and Wolfwood is kind, but willing to kill. The thing is they come to respect each other and become very good friends in spite of their differences. Those lines about Vash's smile are some of the most famous from the series. Wolfwood and Vash are both looking for redemption, just doing it in very different ways, and how they get it is also very different. Keep and eye on that Cross Punisher. It's extremely symbolic.

Oh yes, MM is probably one of my favorite episodes so far. I could actually see it as a Firefly ep with Mal and Book.

Yes, Wolfwood is a bit more about the greyness.

Keep and eye on that Cross Punisher. It's extremely symbolic.

Not to mention leading to the great line.

Workers (re: cross): this is really heavy!
Wolfwood: it's because it's so full of mercy.

Love.

I also love the episode titles because not only are the catchy, there tends to be a bit of symbolism in them too. In "Murder Machines" you could take that as referring to the robots, or Vash and Wolfwood. They're just as lethally effective as the robots, as Wolfwood realizes when they're in the building and comments about how he can't figure exactly what Vash is.

Wolfwood is a bit more about the greyness.
His actions go even more that way later on.

it's because it's so full of mercy.

Which is also a symbolic line after everything is said and done. That's what the Cross Punisher is about; mercy and redemption. Wolfwood needs it you find out. Vash needs it too and it's great to watch what happens to the Cross Punisher through the series.

Oh yes. I love how neither is what he appears ar first sight. Wolfwood, who's "never fired a gun" is amazing with his precision shooting, and is not an ordinary priest and Vash? Well, he can shut down a factory by himself which is decidedly not normal.

His actions go even more that way later on.

I just got to the point where he shot that swordsman who was after Vash, after the swordsman ran away. Whoa.

Wolfwood needs it you find out. Vash needs it too

Oh yes, and I really hope both of them find some sort of peace. Since the last ep I finished was where Vash was made to destroy Augusta, that man is going to need all the help in finding peace he can get.

Yeah, in the manga Vash was there at the time and he and Wolfwood have it out, yet they still travel together. Wolfwood isn't ruthless, but there's a realistic pragmatism to him that sort of balances Vash's idealism. I can't say if I were Wolfwood I wouldn't have shot the guy too.

Exactly. Because while I think Vash is amazing in his selflessness and self-restraint, I think Wolfwood, while a good person, has much more human reaction to this. I think on the moral side of the spectrum, I'd like to be like Wolfwood because I don't think I'd ever have enough strength of character and goodness to be like Vash.

Haaaa Wolfwood. I love that portable confessional. Hilarium.

I think I like Wolfwood slightly more than Vash, but only slightly. He's a little darker and isn't all about the facade, like Vash is.

And yeah. Just yeah.

I love Vash slightly more because he is just so amazingly nice and good without being boring and cloying. And plus I love the facade thing. I just go for good guys in RL and fiction. And because it's so easy for him to wreak havoc and yet he manages not to. And the angst.

But Wolfwood is great great great!

Mmmm, I like my bad guys. Or at least guys that are a little darker than the average shiny happy people. ;)

Angst is god. No lie.

In fiction, just as in RL, I really really like good guys. They can be conflicted, but the nicer they are, the harder I fall :)

Heee, I like them to have some goodness in them. Like, they'll do the right thing, but you just know there's something darker beneath. So freakin' hot.
