Silence: longish ep 6 meta
Sep. 17th, 2006 10:34 pmSilence ep 6 is wow. This dorama keeps killing me a bit more each time but in a good way.
I am OTPing Wei Yi and Shen Shen so hard it's ridiculous. Now they are text-messaging each other. Awwwwww. I love how the other people notice that they have something going on before they do: BianDou sees SS smiling at the text message and saying 'so that's how you send love messages to each other' (of course he thinks it's her and Zuo Jun), or later when SS comes into WY's office and flings money into his face, the coworkers who leave go 'who is this mute? Husband and wife fighting isn't as bad as this.'
So yeah, the money flinging scene. WY's secretary seems to really delight in messing up his life (but I love that he figured her out and he can be quite intimidating even if he can't fire her, because she has direct orders from Daddy. That scene in his office at night? I would have taken a step back). And Vic really does quietly hurt so well, I just want to give him hugs. He is so confused as to why SS has come on a tearing rampage (as he doesn't know about sec's underhanded plotting). And she makes him lose his temper. And she says something, which in light of later events, is about the most unfortunate comment she could have said: that someone this selfish is a waste, living on this earth.
But what I love is that he isn't even mad at her, just hurt. You see him walk down the street later and mimicking a gesture she makes and going 'so this means ___'
I feel so bad for the poor siblings. Awwww. But I love it when WY finds them (and I love that he earlier have ZJ keys to his car to look for them. Try as he must, under his shell he is a total softie) and he buys them new shoes, and sends them back home and just quietly listens to see that they got there and hears people rejoicing and quietly walks off. I think it says a lot about him that he didn't go in, to get thanks or get SS's gratitude or apologies. But I love that the kids say who found them and got them shoes and she runs out and sees him walking away and gestures in thanks.
But OMG! He learns he has liver cancer and only three months to live. I love that image of him walking in the surf, in his full suit and dress shoes and they are getting splashed and he is heedless. I admit I cried for parts of this ep. And I love this image of him isolated, out of place in that bar, not part of humanity (though honestly, let's get real there. If a guy who looked like Vic Zhou set there with a drink, he would be swarmed with women. But whatever...) And he texts SS if it's really a waste for someone like him to live and I like her reply.
But what I love even more is him watching her (unobserved himself) in the morning in the courtyard. His eyes look so young and defenseless. And she senses someone looking and runs out to look and sees him walk away and I just love it when he turns around. And then their conversation on the bench. It's to die for. And he has fun. He only has fun when he is with her. But come on, silly girl, he mentioned Lucky Star, figure it out girl!
And then as she is about to live she accidentally spins into him (it makes sense) and they are so close to each other and they both are frozen and then he gently reaches out and removes the trace of that street food thing they were eating from the corner of her mouth. With his finger. And it is so freaking HOT. And they are totally about to kiss and everything is frozen and then she runs off and he stares after her in shock, because he did what he did so utterly instinctively.
GUUUUUH.
She so likes him even if she doesn't realize it (which is why she got so mad every time she thought he did bad stuff) and of course he is also beyond smitten. EEEE!
I also love the slight start on his face when ZJ mentions he'd like to marry SS as one of his dreams. He really is having a breakdown. Love his not going to the office but instead to that park. And he lets ZJ be the 'CEO' and himself the driver on that drive back. It's interesting that finding out everything is over is actually bringing out the real WY who has been locked away for so long: whimsical and kind and a dreamer...And so terribly young.
Also, that flashback he has to SS eating that fried rice? The look on his face as he watches her eat? Definitely a man besotted.
But I feel so bad for him: he really is terribly lonely, even in a situation like this where you desperately need for someone to be there. That image of his curled up on his bed in pain in his sterile, unlived in apartment? Ouch. And they constantly have images that highlight his isolation and apartness: he wanders around through the crowd (and donates that wad of cash, eeee!)
And I love when he tears all the phones out or disconnects them. BAnd he picks one up finally and yells into it but there is silence on the other end and he realizes it's SS and I love that even in his extremety, he just totally changes and becomes all still and gentle and figures out a way for them to meet and I love his watching her when she hasn't seen him yet at the meeting place.
I hate Wei Yi's father with a deep and abiding passion. Loathe, loathe, loathe!
And OMG, WY's fiancee and her younger friend Yellow should totally hook up. Not only is he hot and clearly in love with her, I love it when he takes her back to her apartment when she is drunk...
Also, Vic Zhou in a wife beater? All groggy from just waking up? One of my favorite things in this world ;P Ummmm. I repeat. UMMMMMMM. His arms! And his collarbones! The dorama might claim he is dying of liver cancer, but it's obvious that really he is dying because he is dying because he is too hot to live.
All I can say is there better be a miracle cure at the end. Also, I totally cried throughout. I am pathetic.
