I have been reading the accounts on CNN of Flight 93 which extensively quotes actual recordings and I can't stop shaking. Except I am at work. Fuck.

I've read the transcript. I wish there was something I could say, but there isn't. It's harrowing. *hugs*

Am I the only one who thinks it's way too soon to make movies of this stuff yet? Am I also the only one who is sort of offended that they are?

I agree with you on that. I think it would be too soon even 20 years from now. The events of that day are still too close to everyone.

No, you are not the only one. I think it's crass and disgusting and horrible and I won't watch it no matter what.

No, it strikes me as somewhat tacky too. For instance, look at the Oklahoma City bombing - that was 11 years ago and on a smaller scale, yet a lot of people would likely still agree that doing a movie on it, which hasn't yet happened, would be pretty tacky. (I know I'd find it tacky even now. Then again, considering where I live, we wouldn't exactly be getting unbiased polling results on a subject like that.) 9/11 is more recent and on a much larger scale than OKC, so I don't know how some out there are coming to the decision that enough time has passed to do films on it.

Actually (and I hate to say this), they are making a movie about the Oklahoma City bombing. Or at least that's what it looks like. Check out this link at IMDb:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0440966/

I can't tell if it's just about McVeigh's life, or the bombing itself, or what.

I really hope that it's just about his life. In either case, yet another movie for me to skip (despite the fact that it is going to star Jason "Logan" Dohring).

Ehhh. Well, if it is true, I can guarantee at least one person that won't be seeing it...

I can't read them. I've even been flipping off the news when they talk in too much detail about the testimony at Zacarias Moussaoui's sentencing hearings. I wasn't there, I didn't directly know anyone who was there, and it's still too damn painful. Why would anyone want to watch a movie about it?

I agree with DM- The only way to be sure that you get your opinion across is to not go and see the movie. I certainly won't. I agree with the general opinion its way too soon and way to near to home.

I had friends that worked in the towers, my fraternity preseident, and two guys from my office were on the tarmac at Newark Airport when the planes struck. I stil have a hard time going to ground zero. It's like an empty feeling in the pit of your stomach.
