Doctor Who OTPness and anime splurge
Apr. 9th, 2006 02:41 amSaw the second part of the Doctor Who two-parter. So good. Much better than the first part. Ohhh, and so much OTPness. The look on Doctor's face when the Mum insists he can't guarantee Rose's safety. And when he doesn't want to implement his plan because he can save the world but "lose you." And Mum (who is so UK's equivalent of White Trash) insisting to Rose that Rose is infatuated. Heck, if you are inclined this way (and I am), the fact that the Doctor doesn't like Mickey (not only does he keep calling him Ricky instead, but the one time he does use his name, he calls him "Mickey the Idiot") could also be an indication. The thing is, I love that the Doctor is so attached to Rose: there is a hard and desperate edge to him, and I think she is one of the few things keeping him even-keeled.
Rose's Mom annoys me, as she is helpless, useless and whiny. I do think it's not much of a choice for Rose: staying in the council flats or travelling the Universe? Come onnnn.
I have also majorly splurged and got GetBackers, Harukanaru, Orphen, Saiyuki, Slayers, Gungrave, and Generator Gawl. Though I can't wait to get my hands on FMP: TSR first. And I am thinking of rewatching Trigun and Fushigi Yuugi first anyway, as I am done with all the anime I have, except for the last part of Rurouni Kenshin, which I heard isn't as good as the rest, so I am in no hurry.

OMG! I love how CE delivers those lines in that scene in the Parliament!!! He cares so much for Rose, and Rose cares so much for him! Guuuuh! And I'm so looking forward to the season two episodes that start in a couple of weeks! *yay!*

The second season is more humor than anything else. Same thing with Slayers. GetBackers works on a weird level because it does stand alone episodes and then joined together arcs like a normal tv series. That one was one of the series I thought I would only like on a superficial level, but have really come to completely love.

The second season of Slayers is the best one, though I really like the third season as well. The first season of Orphen is the best.

Date: 2006-04-09 09:54 pm (UTC)I've been rewatching FY and am surprised at how fast it is to watch anime. When you skip the openings and endings they're barely fifteen minutes an episode! I should totally go forth and rent something new. I remember really liking Slayers, especially the third season. But then I just liked Valgaav... I should probably look into something with "full metal" in the title, since they seem to be EVERYWHERE... but what comes first?

And yes, the second part of Who was much better than the first.
