I ended up marathonning PG and going to bed at a God-forsaken hour and am now thoroughly zonked.

And Momo and Kairi join the already long list of my favorite ships.

But before I proceed to my exciting (if only) thoughts on the rest of the eps, has anyone seen either all of the anime or read the manga through to the end? Because I am trying to figure out if Momo and Touji had sex and I can't possibly decide. Usually, if a couple just gets back together and they are sharing a bedroom and the last thing you see is them horizontally kissing and then it cuts out, I know what to assume. But then Momo acts like it's such a huge deal in the last ep when they are in a hotel room together again, as if they haven't before. And they never elucidate. Grrrr.

I am actually kinda undecided, anyway, on what I think if Momo and Touji did have sex. After all, she did give up on Kairi and got back together with the guy she crushed on for ages. And she and Touji would have had sex a year ago if it wasn't for Sae's phone call that set off the chain reaction that resulted in the break-up and her falling for Kairi etc etc. And poor Touji does love her and he spent all this time protecting her (bone-headedly, but still) and he loses her at the end, so he deserves at least some happiness or props. But, OTOH, I am a Kairi/Momo shipper. And the poor boy was trudging through a typhoon on foot to meet her at the time. While she was knocking boots with Touji. But then Momo was justified in finally giving up on Kairi. But rebound sex is bad. But Touji is someone she got back together with. But but but but. I keep going in circles. Well, I severely doubt Kairi is a virgin, so I suppose it's OK, but still...I am confused about what I think. But then what else is new? I guess if no one else has read/seen it, I'll have to wait until [livejournal.com profile] crumpeteer does and then maybe she can enlighten me.

The scary thing is, I ended up finding even Ryo and Sae (Sae to a lesser extent) human by the end. Actually, Sae/Ryo are totally my Dark Ship for the show. They are so suited for each other. Too bad it didn't work out, but I find that last image of Ryo, looking at the pictures of children on a parenting web-site pretty poignant. Maybe there is hope for him yet. I think I am just a sucker for angst. And Sae and Ryo are like the dark reflections of Kairi and Momo, anyway; and once again, the commonality between Momo and Kairi gets highlighted when Sae and Ryo discuss how they feel inadequate because they inspire admiration but they can't win love. The weird thing is, in his twisted way Ryo does love Kairi. When Kairi is down with pneumonia, he shows up to pay the bills. But I think making your kid brother miserable (Ryo has got to be at least 5 years older) to make yourself feel better is a sucky sucky thing. At least Sae isn't family.

On the Kairi and Momo (melo)drama front, mmmm. Actually, honestly speaking, I preferred when it was a bit more low-key on the angst. But it is rather realistic that the characters keep fluctuating between mature adults and children. That scene where Momo tells Kairi she wants to date him even though she knows he still has feelings for Misao and they will work out their relationship is very grown-up. But Momo is not a thirty-something and she can't keep it up the whole time. Or Kairi thinking that he still loves Misao, even as he admits to himself he loves Momo and she makes him happy, and it taking some time and some outside advice for it to sink in that he just idealized Misao because he was so lonely when he first met her, he fixated on her like a drowning person would. If he was older, it would take him much less time to figure himself out.

I have to say, that is one stubborn, stubborn boy. Once he gets his head on straight, and the circumstances conspire against him, he ends up travelling through a typhoon to meet Momo, walking 20 km through a landsliding terrain. Of course, Momo, who is a pretty reasonable girl, told him that he should get his head on straight and then if he decides he loves her the most, to meet her at a station at a particular time. And since we still have a number of eps to go, he can't make it and by the time he does, it's so much later she left, and also, due to bad luck, she thinks he's with Misao. And he calls everyone to find out where she went, and finding out she went to the place she booked for them for a romantic get-away, ends up going there. In a typhoon. On foot. And then he calls the hotel and they tell him that yes, Momo has checked in. With her companion. And he just slumps on the road, in the rain, and it's all very angsty and artistic. And he ends up walking all the way to where she is anyway, only to see her holding hands with Touji on the platform (Did they or didn't they? Argh).

And then he goes to business as usual and being his usual happy chirpy Kairi self, really confusing poor Momo who of course still lurves him. Kairi is really good at shields. But not entirely. So we get the angst of Kairi being outside her house and seeing her make out with Touji and then he is sneaking away and she sees him and he freezes and then she sees he is crying and he tells her he still has all these feelings. And then he just grabs her in the classroom and asks Touji to give her back and it's awkward and adorable and Touji is "she is not a puppy" LOL. And then Touji asking Momo to pick between them, and poor Kairi being so nervous he feels like throwing up. And Momo picking Touji so Kairi grabbing her by the hand and running out with her, trying to convince her he loves her. But Momo, I think, is very much like Kairi, and she is leery about being hurt and she doesn't want to believe him. And 'tis the end. Except then Sae tells her about Kairi and typhoon and all that stuff, and Momo finds out what really happened with Misao and Momo realizes that, all along, the one she really wanted was Kairi and she was just trying to be a good girl and stick with Touji because he was protecting her all this time. And of course, she is convinced of Kairi's love for her. Touji lets her go (duh), so off she goes, haring to find Kairi, and guess what? She ends up having to fish him out of the drink again, and their reunion scene is adorable and perfect and cute and she just hugs him and tells him she loves him and Kairi is so startled and wordless (for once) and adorable and awwwwww. Love.

Which is good, as Touji is boring, though nice. And Kairi did put her through a wringer for a bit (though not as bad as Touji, and he was always always honest and upfront with her). Yay.

Btw, Husband has been watching some PG by osmosis, while doing other stuff on the computer, and so at one point (during the typhoon sequence) we had the following conversation:

Husband: So, who is she together with now, getting some exercise?
Me: Touji. The ex.
Husband: Hmph.
Me: But she thinks Kairi has ditched her!
Husband: But he is walking through a typhoon to meet her.
Me: But she totally has reason to think that about Kairi.
Husband: Walking through a typhoon.
Me: And she found out Touji has always loved her and she had a thing for him for so long.
Husband: Typhoon. On foot.

Meet my husband, Momo/Kairi shipper. I guess a family that ships together, stays together?

Kairi/Momo smoochies. Because I am a sappy shipper. Or is it a shippy sap?

Your husband, he sounds like a wise man. I'm going with the typhoon on foot as being more impressive.

I think the thing that would be the most bothersome about Momo and Touji messing around is that Momo is still emotionally entangled with Kairi. I'm sure Kairi's gotten around himself, but it wasn't like he had deepseated feelings for Momo at the time. Momo doesn't even give herself time to work out the Kairi situation properly if she's then hopping in bed with Touji on rebound. That just doesn't seem like her. Yet you're right, kissing then cutaway inevitably means getting it on. Just, weird.

Heeee. Animated beefcake?

Hot, yes, but also looking ominously like someone's going to get a cap popped in their ass by Kairi.

Where'd you find a Peach Girl icon? *perks ears*

Hot, yes, but also looking ominously like someone's going to get a cap popped in their ass by Kairi.

ROFL. Well, he had just had a fight with Momo over his no-good evil brother.

I'm going with the typhoon on foot as being more impressive.

Yeah. I guess he is a very stubborn guy. And poor thing, it all (almost) goes to waste.

I think the thing that would be the most bothersome about Momo and Touji messing around is that Momo is still emotionally entangled with Kairi.

Yup. She is all upset for Kairi standing her up (or so she thinks) and even after they get back to school after that night she keeps thinking about Kairi. So sex on rebound (which isn't even rebound) is bad bad bad. OTOH, I could buy her doing it with Touji, of no one else, because they almost ended up doing it before, and Momo did decide to have sex with Kairi so she is OK with the concept and Touji is hot and...Basically, I can see how that would happen, but I don't really like it. And the scene where Momo runs off at the last ep before she and Touji get it on also seems to go with the whole 'they haven't done it yet' scenario. The 'cut away' scene though...

I am so confused.

[livejournal.com profile] peachy_graphics if you're interested.

I would go with thinking they didn't do anything if her reactions are still like that and she seems to not really be guilty on that aspect with Kairi. Perhaps just a distinctly weird way of doing it, but that would be my impression. But then anime is notoriously vague anyway.

Yeah, I guess they would try to be misleading, but then I thought they'd clear it up. Hmmmm. But she doesn't act like a girl who's had sex and you are right, she'd feel bad about it, now she's hooked up with Kairi but there is no sign of it. I'll consider it another randomness then.

*waves* I did one of those "find people who have a lot of friends in common with you" thingies (http://trustflow.lshift.net) and you came up quite high in the list, so then I scanned your entries and then I friended you. :) So there.

Also, where would one go about obtaining the pretty anime eye candy I see above? Because the pretty, it pretties.

Eeeee! I love your BSG fics!

If you want to see Peach Girl, it depends whether you want to dl or have discs. Discs appear on ebay for a pretty reasonable price (just make sure they have subtitles), and the downloading is at:

http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/542.html

And it's totally fun!

:) Glad you've enjoyed them. Though I must admit, it's the Doctor and Rose who've captured my heart these days, with Jim/Pam from the Office and Josh/Donna in these final eps...

Wasn't the finale just mindblowing though?

And thanks SO much for the anime link. I've been looking for a place to snag stuff like that and Prince of Tennis that everyone's been talking so much about on my Flist. :)

I am all about the Doctor and Rose lately as well. I just discovered Dr Who in scifi and am hooked.

And yeah, the BSG finale was to die for.

That place is good for anime, but it's only for stuff that hasn't been licensed in NA. So they aren't going to have stuff like Fushigi Yuugi or whatnot.

Haven't seen PoT (isn't it like eighty gazillion eps?) but [livejournal.com profile] crumpeteer posted a link to a bunch of pics from live action version they are making, and it looked quite fun.

And I tell everyone that I think that the first three eps are some of the weakest...just wait till you get to Dalek. Or the Captain Jack eps. or...GAH~!

I know that skiffy is cutting scenes, so if you're prone to obtaining other ways... you shouldn't feel too guilty about doing so in order to be up to date for the 4/15 start of the new series. *squeee*

And it is just so delightful to be able to sit back and watch the DW love spread across the Flist (and new flist ;), knowing the awesomeness that is yet to come..)

So, at this point in the series (Through ep 3, right?) ... what're your favorite moments?

Date: 2006-03-30 01:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Yes, I am definitely going to be obtaining things by 'other means.' Because only once a week is unbearable.

Favorite moments? Way too many. When the Doctor and Rose hold hands in the celler when they think they are about to die and he tells her he is sorry he got he involved. Or when she offers him chips after he tells her of the destruction of his planet. or when the Doctor watches the last human destruct with such coldness. Or when he introduces himself to Rose. Way too many, basically.

OMG I watched the first Peach Girl and it's like a shot of adolescent high school drama to the vein. Very very ...weird, but enjoyable. Will try a few more eps, as it seems it may get crackishly addictive.

Yay. Yeah, this isn't Shakespeare, but it's kinda fun and gets cracktastically addictive as it goes on.
