Yes, yes, still Fushigi Yuugi
Feb. 11th, 2006 02:48 pmI am seriously getting more and more of a Buffy/Angel vibe from Miaka/Tamahome. The whole starcrossed-we-can't-be vibe. Joss as live action version of anime thing continues. Now we find out that in order to be able to summon Suzuku, Miaka and Tamahome can't make love (which is dealable) and can't even touch or express their love (not so dealable). Whoa. I do love that Tamahome makes Miaka tell him and the glorious angst when he realizes what that means and is all "I can't love you?" and he punches the wall and it's all hot.
And then he tells her that once the quest is over he'll make her the happiest bride in the world. You know something horrible is coming.
ETA: Whaaaaaaa??????? OMG! They killed Tamahome's family????? The father and his four adorable child siblings? You have GOT to be kidding me! Fuck.
ETA: Tamahome in his ruined house with his dying sister in his arms? Argh. I ended up crying. And then he fights Sumboshi who did it and he just keeps standing there taking hits from him because he wants to share what his family felt. And he loses it so horribly, basically going out of his mind. And then he is at their grave that he made and he is just crying and Miaka can't even comfort him because of the no affection thingy and he just tells her "I can't stop" re: crying and asks her to leave him alone. This is so freaking depressing. And he buries his sister's toy and finds his little brother with a knife because he tried to protect the family so he just holds his body and sobs that he is proud of him. And then he later tells Miaka that he spent his whole life for his family but he couldn't protect them so now he swears he will protect her and not fail this time. And it's this whole huge expiation issue for him I think. He's failed to save his family, so maybe he will be redeemed if he saves Miaka. Seriously, I need anti-depressants.
