Aaaahhhh, the power of teenage angst
Feb. 5th, 2006 07:22 pmI must be bipolar (no offense to bipolar people anywhere), because all of a sudden, 19 (!!!!) episodes in, Hana Yori Dango has started appealing to me. I mean, the artwork still annoys me, but as long as I don't marathon, I found that I am actually enjoying it. Probably not being passing-out tired helps.
I do have to say,
aliterati I am definitely getting a huge thing for Doumyouji, which, considering I started the show with loathing him with a very very strong loathing, is kinda impressive. But ohhhh, he rescued her from evil annoying school bullies who tied her up to a car (btw, come on! I know anime is about exaggeration, but WHO would do that? She gets killed and they are all in jail). And he took her word that she didn't end up sleeping with whats-his-name despite photographic evidence. And he gave her his shirt and took her to his house and took care of her bruises and told her he loved her. Awwwww. My favorite part? He is carrying her and she demands to be put down (you go girl) and he says he won't because he's finally caught her. Cute. I actually even like Rui now.
But. But. But! Tsukushi! I know you are 17 so you are not really all grown-up yet, but come on! When you agree to go on a weekend trip with a guy who told you he loves you, it's not that weird that he would assume you'd share a room. If, in addition, he is nice enough to say he won't share a bed with you because he won't want to sleep with a girl who doesn't love him? It's a hint to make up your mind about how you feel about him (advice: stick with him, especially since he appears to be richer than God). It's not an invitation to leave the room at night and make out with his best friend who is staying in the same house. Your date might be understandably put out.
P.S. I also sorta started watching Meteor Garden, which is a Taiwanese live-action version of HYD, and I really really like it! I actually often don't find Asian guys attractive (I am a huge girl for blondes) but oooooooh, the shallow yumminess.
