Eeeeek! Aoshi! What the heck are you doing? Don't team up with Shishio. How can you? I love you and having to see you hanging out with someone who looks like he is about to star in "Mummy Destroys Kyoto" would not be good. Not to mention, he is crazy and evil. More importantly, Misao loves you and she probably won't if you go over the Dark Side and you'll break the heart of one of my fave characters. Idiot.

You should follow Okona's advice. Normally I would be cautious about taking advice of someone who wears a bow in his beard but when the alternative is going psycho, it seems kinda a good thing. Yeah, blahblahblah going off the deep end, but you know, there are better ways to deal with your issues: go get drunk, or stoned, or laid, or all three. You are hot and have money, it shouldn't be a problem.

I am all distraught about my favorite eye candy going evil. Because I can't like villains no matter how hot. And there are much nicer ways to have nervous break-downs. Snap out of it. Plus, there is no future in it. Come on, the show is called "Rurouni Kenshin," not "Rurouni Aoshi" so guess who is going to win if you fight Kenshin? Hint: not you. Plus, Misao will kill you. If Kaoru doesn't get to you first. Heck, seeing they bonded, they just might team up.

So give it up. Because I can't see it ending well.

In other news, Hiko-Kenshin interactions are LOVE. And Kenshin begging to be taught the final secrets of HM style is also love. His masks are off, when he is with Hiko.

You know, I spent most of RK saying "that boy really needs to get laid" every time Aoshi came on the screen. Considering the internalized stress levels he has, it's a wonder he's not downing antacids the entire series.

I'm in deep love with Hiko. I adore that man. He's really about the only one who can really ruffle Kenshin and I love him for it. His whole sort of 'se la vie' attitude is kinda winning.

I love Hiko. And his extreme hotness has nothing to do with it. Yeah, so I keep telling myself anyway. He is a lot more at peace and balanced than Kenshin.

And you just know Misao would be glad to help. Silly boy, Misao is a lot more fun than Shishio.

Or collapsing from high blood pressure. He must have amazing health.

Hiko's also the oldest bishounen I can remember (not counting immortal characters). 43 is ancient for anime men, but Hiko holds up quite well. Must be all the sake.

I think Hiko's more at peace because he doesn't really feel like he has to atone for anything. He knew Kenshin running off was stupid and would lead to no good, but what are you gonna do? Kenshin was too young and too idealistic to be reasoned with. I think had he NOT run off, Kenshin would have settled into something a bit like Hiko.

Re: Aoshi. If repressed people let loose in the bedroom, I'd say Aoshi would by in there for about a week.

I have to say that when I read that, I literally laughed out loud at my computer screen. Mmmmmmmmmm...

Agreed. I think he'd also not have the 'must not kill people, am scum of earth' mentality because if he'd kill now and then but not on such massive scale and so on others' orders, he wouldn't have such a problem with it.

And yeah, Hiko is HOT.

And it's not exactly like Hiko is a saint either. He's killed plenty of people, but he always had a good cause. Heck, he killed his own master because that's how the Hitsu Mirugen style works. He wears a weighted coat to KEEP himself from killing too many people when he fights, for pete's sake. He could have been as just a big or greater monster than Kenshin ever was, but he's level headed enough not to do it and live a fairly angst free and enjoyable life.

Mmmmmmmmmm...

Repressed antiheroes are so much more fun. ;-)

It's the sake!

I do think Hiko is not just more pragmatic than Kenshin. He is also older and he didn't have to do really horrible stuff at an early age. I think even if Kenshin became the Battousai but did it when he was 25 and not 15, he'd be able to deal with it a lot better. And Hiko tells him that, or as good as.

Hiko has the advantage of life experience. And an afinity for sake.

It does show a bit of the kind streak in Hiko since I think he sort of knew the stray he picked up was going to be a loose cannon even if things turned out well. He also has no real recriminations when Kenshin shows back up. Hiko's just likable. He reminds me a great deal of Kakashi in Naruto. Lethal when they need to be, but fairly well adjusted on the whole.
