This, that, and the other
Nov. 22nd, 2005 03:08 pmAs a Thanksgiving present to myself, I bought at Borders today:
Sigrid Undset's Kristin Lavransdatter, one of those long, epic novels I've always heard of and wanted to read, set in medieval Norway, following the life of, you guessed it, Kristin Lavransdatter. On a more shallow note, mmmmmm Erlend (for some reason, I keep thinking Karl Urban as Eomer look).
Julia Alvarez' In the Time of the Butterflies a novel based on a true story of 4 Dominican Republic sisters who fought against Trujillo's dictatorship. Because I liked the writing style and because it's something I know so little about.
Two Dark Angel books continuing the show, because I need my happy Max/Logan fix (btw, every time I type their ship, I keep thinking I am talking about Max Evans(Roswell)/Logan Echolls(VM) slash, and that would be about the most unlikely ship ever).
What do they have in common? I guess strong women is about it.
Also, I talked to my grandparents earlier in the day (
katranna, not our shared ones, the other ones) and they are adorable. Grandfather was joking he was grandma's boyfriend and I hope I am that happy with my spouse and kidding around when I've been married 55+ years.
On Veronica Mars front, I was thinking: if Meg came out of her coma, what would Duncan do? Nothing (a patented Duncan reaction) Ditch Veronica to go to Meg (I wouldn't be surprised but it would be a bit too decisive for the Donut). Stick with V because she is the love of his life (yeah, right). Something else? Just patter along and slowly things will fray? What?
