First off, general observations about fandom. I find it interesting that the topic that always arouses the most attention and discussion in any fandom is the shipping. VM has shipping and it's interesting and fun but it's not the main point of the storyline (unlike in Roswell). So I wonder why ships are always the thing that generate the most debates.

I found it a bit perplexing that Logan's getting off was such a firestorm. With the circumstances the way they were, even if he was a poor guy being defended by the public defender, the case would have fallen apart. No prosecutor in his right mind would want to argue this particular case.

You are trying to convict someone who stabbed a gang member in self-defence, after said gang member and the others of his gang set out to beat him to death? (And he has the medical records to prove it). Yeah, that makes a good case, especially when you can't even prove he did it in the first place.

To argue for a murder or even manslaughter conviction in a self-defense case is always hard, but here? Forget it. The most the prosecutor could argue is that Logan either used exessive force in defending himself or didn't retreat (I don't know California law, but if any state would have a duty to retreat and not to use deadly force unless deadly force is first used against you, it would be CA). But that's just still a useless argument, since there was nowhere to retreat: the guy was on the bridge surrounded by gang members. And considering they gave him a concussion and broken ribs and weren't stopping any time soon, I doubt you could argue his life wasn't in danger. At the very best it would be their word ("we meant to only half-beat him to death" and how convincing is that?) against his.

Forget "beyond a reasonable doubt." You couldn't even do anything with a laxer standard.

The only hope for conviction would be if the jury decided against him because of Neptune's class war. But any alwyer worth any money at all would definitely either take care during jury selection or ask to transfer venue to another place. Basically, this case is a horrible no-winner, and the publicity for the DA's office would suck: they are trying to prosecute a guy on very flimsy evidence, who might have killed someone in self-defense, and who is a poor son of homicidal bad guy. Yeah, good luck!

So I don't really see why everyone was shocked our outraged.

And here are my wonderings about sexing (or lack thereof). Behind the cut as references 2.01

I wonder if Veronica's had sex yet? I don't mean her unconscious escapades. I mean since S1 ended. I doubt she did with Logan (they weren't together for long enough, or at that stage). But did she with Duncan? I don't think so, because they don't have that vibe, but who knows. It's going to be weird for her regardless, but with Duncan? Probably extra weird. It would make a great fanfic!

Also, Logan/Cordy crack me up. Someone should take away the guy's DVD of "The Graduate."
