BSG ep was excellent tonight. In fact, it was so excellent I need to do a long, looong write-up, which will take me a day or two.
Also, Husband and I watched more of Peacemaker Kurogane and it continues to be super-excellent. Tetsu doesn't bug me any more, as he shows a good heart and stops trying to show off so much. The Shinsengumi treat him as a mascot and I do understand why they are so nice to him: living the way they do they prize innocence and are rather mystified by it. Also, Toshi/Souji are SO an OTP (and thus I get my second slash OTP. Heeeee). I love that part of the reason Toshi is so reluctant to get Tetsu involved is because he sees Souji in him, and he gave Souji a sword when Souji was 9. And he feels guilty about it. And Souji knows it (that whole conversation was painful, and brilliant, and intimate). Heck, the way they interacted in that scene where Souji is trying to convince Toshi to give Tetsu a sword, reminds me of the way I try to tease my husband when he thinks an idea of mine is ill-advised and I am trying to get him to change his mind. Definitely an OTP. Husband says they remind him of Aragorn and Legolas because we have the dark haired, serious, leaderly one who hangs out with a feminine looking guy with deadly combat skills.
But in other, unconnected, but to me really interesting news, Today is my LJ anniversary!!!!! Last year, on this day, I just got my lj at the urging of
katranna. I haven't looked back (or stopped posting, which is perhaps less fortunate) since. I get all mushy when I think that same time last year I knew two people on my friends list in person, and a couple more through Bollywhat, and now I have all these people I got to internet-know over the year and waaaaaaah. *carries out her threat and does get mushy*
So, mini lj-meme on occasion, as to why various LJ things on this LJ are the way they are.
Screenname: Dangermousie is in honor of Dangermouse. Because he was a non-sleazy, mouse version of James Bond with a sexy accent. Plus, who couldn't love someone who'd have the nerve to walk outside wearing nothing but a belt?
Journal Name: Musings of the Obsessive Kind. Because I want to remember how to spell 'obsessive.' And because while my interests might change, my obsessiveness is ingrained.
Subname: For heaven makes your love like the advance of flames in straw...It's from an Ancient Egyptian poem. Which is both esoteric and pretentious, not to mention very sentimental. So it is perfect for me, as I can swoon while indulging in intellectual snobbery. And it sounds vaguely Shakesperean which amuses me.
LJ Background: From Korean movie Chunhyang because the picture is of pretty people, it's romantic, it has colors that appeal to me, and it's small and positioned such as to fit with my lj design without me having to alter it.
Friends' Page: "Dancing Round the Trees" refers to one of my constant pleasures: Bollywood, and the stereotypical musical number from one of those films: a couple of lovers dancing, more or less skillfully, around various samples of shrubbery.
Memories: "Jedi Archives" is Star Wars related (duh), which is very fitting as SW was the first thing I obsessed about on this lj.
Current Posts: "Scurrilous Scribbles" is me trying to be clever. Plus, alliterations are awesome.
Info: "Temple of Conceit" seems appropriate, as few people would decide I overflow with modesty.
So in conclusion, I am very very happy to have "met" all of you as you've made the past year a great deal of fun, taught me a whole bunch of fascinating stuff, and gave me a number of extra obsessions I could ill afford. I love you. (Though Husband tells me to remind everyone that this love is purely platonic, heee). Thank you for a year of fun.

And Souji knows how to manipulate Hijikata too. Souji knows he feels guilty, but I don't really think Souji regrets getting into the life. He tries to let Hijikata know that he doesn't regret it and that he understands why Hijikata feels guilt. I think part of the beauty of that relationship is that Souji DOES understand Hijikata in a way no one else does. Souji is one of the few who really gets how responsible Hijikata feels about the Shinsengumi. It does show how much Hijikata actually cares about Souji since he does feel guilt over it all, considering Hijikata is so tough and inflexible and military so much of the time.

Oh, yes. I think that as he gets older he also analyzes more than when he did initially recruit Souji.
And Souji knows how to manipulate Hijikata too.
Oh yes. They really have this comfortable long-long-companions vibe going.
