I HATE Yuu Watase. Argh. Ceres makes FY seem like chirpy comedy. At least in FY Miaka and Tamahome got HEA. Here? I hate what happened to my OTP.

I have long long thoughts about the show but for now: everybody FRELLING died! Aki and Chidori and Ceres and everyone. But that is not the worst! What is the worst? The ending.

I am watching the end and there is Aya with Toya and heavily pregnant and I am all happy (because they survived SO much) and then Toya tells Yuhi that he doesn't have long to live, a year or two tops (because he gave up the robe to Ceres) and Aya knows and is fine with it.

I HATE this. I am crying. Yeah, great, they will have a couple of happy years and a baby to remember him by. But then he will die and she will be alone forever. And he will never see his child grow up or anything. They will have only a year or so to be happy. And argh!!!!!!!

How FUCKING unfair is that? I am NEVER rewatching this.

HATE.

*off to bawl*

Seriously. I literally threw stuff at the TV. You have NO idea how upset I am.

What is the point of all of this? Yay death? What? Argh.

**Feels your pain**

I don't like when characters start dying out. One usually pretty safe with Holllywood movies, but anything else is unknown territory. Russian films are more predictable in the different way - if there is a character i like, there is a good chance he/she will die.

Yes, I think it's the sheer randomness of the death thingy that got me. I mean, if you read a 19th century French novel, you know the lead is likely to bite it.

But here, I was sure that at least the lead and her SO were get HEA and they threw the wrench in at the last moment. Maybe I should stick to Hollywood. Or at least read spoilers ;)

One of my Korean friends likes to say how every Korean music video has an ending like that: "I'll sacrifice my life for you... but I cannot be with you." I suggest you stay away from Korean music videos.

Heeeeee. The Korean movies I've seen have been like that, too. But there I knew what I was getting myself into.

Here, it's the sheer unfair surprise of it that blindsided me :)

My best friend and I always had some questions about just how long a "year or two" is to Toya, considering he's not really human. There's a large section of the fandom (all in denial, I'll admit) that thinks he does live a little longer than that.

Did you see that icon on the Watase community that has a picture of her and then *thinking up new ways to kill characters* in astericks off to the side? I think you need that one.

I think I'll join this section. It's morning, and I slept on it, and I am still upset enough to spit nails.

*thinking up new ways to kill characters* in astericks off to the side? I think you need that one.

*laughs and snarls at the same time* I think what struck me about the Toya thing was the grautitousness of it. All we know since he gave up the robe is he is a normal human being. But normal human beings don't usually keel off in their 20s. They live to old age! So she totally could have ended with the two of them happy on the island with the approaching baby or what not and it wouldn't have made any difference to the story. That whole 'nope, am dying' was just thrown there soooo randomly for no reason that it pissed me off horribly (e.g. I wasn't mad about Aki dying, because that was set up by the story and had a point. He just couldn't get his body back).

Basically, AnC is like anti-FY. In FY, Miaka saved Yui (who was culpable in her downfall, unlike Aki). In FY, Miaka and Tamahome's love literally overcame space and time. In FY it was all about holding on. Here it's all about the zen Buddhist idea about the evils of holding on (the whole mess started because Ceres and Mikagi didn't want to let go. She is giving him powers, he in loving her so much it turned into psycho obsession). Sort of Anakin-like about someone with power doing messed-up things to hold on.

No wonder this show is full of broken halves of couples, are limping through life: Yuuki's sister who misses her dead husband, Shoro the singer who misses her partner Kei (I love the image of his ghost appearing, helping her out through the notes right before she hits the floor, dying), Aya's mother bereft of her husband, Ceres and Mikagi, separated and twisted by love. And yay, now we get to add Aya and Toya to the list who are supposed to be some kind of moral example because they are OK with letting go (but then what else could they do?). Argh.

If I remember correctly from the manga, it was a lot vaguer than the anime was. I think he just said something about dying "soon", which, I still hold to the fact his aging isn't quite the same as a humans even though he is human now. I don't know, Watase tends to end her manga so openly a lot of the time. Even Alice 19th was open ended for Frey (which is why I hope she does a series with him). I remember the best friend being disgusted with the AnC ending. I never got into it that much simply because I did know the ending. I'm afraid of investing in Watase characters since they have a tendency to kick out. I stick to the shojo where you know everything is going to end happy, it just takes a while to get there.

That is a lot better. But still, he was talking to Yuhi who is human and using words accordingly, so I am afraid he isn't going to live for 50 years.

I never got into it that much simply because I did know the ending.

I didn't, and now I am certainly are going to look up spoilers for every anime I consider watching. Because? I was so pissed off.

I guess I felt sure that at least the heroine would get her HEA. No idea why I thought that since Genbu is clearly not going to end well for everyone concerned, heroine included, but...

Perhaps they'll find a magical way to fix everything, as the FY OVAs had Hotohori rising from the dead. Watase is extremely well known for cutting through her bishounen with a scythe though.

I have to spoiler myself because I invest so much in characters I'm then devastated when anything happens to them. There have been many a manga chucked across a room because of the ending. There's also the charming Chrono Crusade that has a pleasant ending in the manga, but in the anime, they completely changed it to tragic.

Things were thrown.

I forgave the OVA every implausibility (that one included) for that one bit of making my day. There was dorky crying in my house. And repeated rewatching of that scene. And I didn't even watch most of the OVAs themselves!

I have to spoiler myself because I invest so much in characters I'm then devastated when anything happens to them.

It seems I'll have to do the same.

Perhaps they'll find a magical way to fix everything,

In my continuation, everything gets fixed and they live HEA. Reality? What's that?

Heeee. Yes :)

I've been watching an anime called Ceres: Celestial Legend (or Ayashi No Ceres) and this is my reaction to the end. I've been posting about the whole thing as I watch and the first post has a summary of the plot, but yeah, it's pretty feaking esoteric :)
