The art of the trailer
May. 7th, 2005 04:12 pmI saw 5 trailers yesterday before KoH, and I found it interesting to compare
Trailer 1:
Revenge of the Sith. The best one of the bunch. This is my 4th time seeing it on big screen and it looks better each time. By the end of it I founf my fingers were interlaced and I was gripping my hands SO hard. I can't wait.
Trailer 2:
The Cinderella Man. If it wasn't for the fact that it has the amazing Russell Crowe, I'd never watch the flick after this trailer. Really. "When America was on its knees, he brought us to our feet?" What is it, Seabiscuit by the Numbers? And the sentimental gushy thing was laid on so heavily it made me want to throw something at the screen. It yelled "look at me, I am Heart Warming, Life Reaffirming. ALL in Capitals."
Trailer 3:
Batman Begins: second time to see it in the theater, and like RotS, it got better each time. I love the darkness and the angst and the Liam Neeson factor.
Trailer 4:
Mr & Mrs Smith. It's like demented Spy Kids, didn't make me want to see it more (like RotS and BB) or less (like TCM). But sexy Brad and Angeline beating on each other sounds like a fun non-opening day dumb fun
Trailer 5:
Zorro 2 (or whatever it's called). It was actually excellent trailer-wise as it moved it a few spots on my top 25 list. Maybe it's just angsty Antonio Banderas working his thing.
So in conclusion: angst and fighting rules. And if I want sap, I'd get it from a tree, the Cinderella Man people!
