You should have seen my face when I realized that Choi Young wasn't just going to die to protect Gongmin, he was going to die to get Eun Soo her diary. Oh you insane suicidal darling you! And when he pictures his death. And his face! And then Gi Chul appears and CY explains why he didn't do a trap - because a trap would mean he, CY, had a hope of living. Oh, CY, you break my heart.
And he is losing, badly, but then frantic ES appears and puts a knife to her own throat OMFG.
This scene! asjskfkfkfjgjgjgjgdkfgk!!!! Most perfect scene of anything ever. When she tells him she figured out he did this to protect her from Gi Chul because while GC is alive she is not safe, and as she told him to let her go, that is the only thing he could do (she reads this closed-off man so well!) And she cries at him how could he do it, doesn't he himself know how horrible this is for survivors and askdkdjfjfg his face because she is totally comparing them to him and his fiancee, with her in his position 7 years ago, i.e., that she is the one who loves him and can't bear to lose him asksdkdjfjfkfgkg!!! And then she bandages his hand and his other hand is frozen by Gi Chul so she takes it, despite his efforts to resist! Between her own hands, to warm it up! And his faaaaaace! She has totally tamed this dangerous, deadly, screwed-up man. And she keeps crying on his hand and he so gently removes her hair from her face to see, and his eyes! It's like he can't believe that anyone, that she, would care. And she keeps crying on his injured hand and then she starts breathing on it, to warm it up, still holding it between her hands, In period drama, this is equivalent of oral! Seriously. And he tells her that he won't wager his life needlessly any more, so not to cry. See! It's canon! He needs her in order to live!
He is so smiley when she tells him she plans to stay. In fact, he is grinning a LOT in this ep - when is the last time we've seen him like that? Outside that flashback, never. And her bossing him around is ADORABLE and when she offers to be partners and that partners share everything and he does tell her stuff and then she says partners protect each other, so she is going to protect him AWWWWW MY FACE! And he tells her he has to protect his dignity before his men because he's kinda embarassed LOL.
Bwahahahah they are bickering in front of the King and Queen and there is handgrabbing and LOLOL at everyone's faces as it sinks in that they are totally a couple LOLOL
!!!! He takes off the hair ribbon of ninja girl off his sword! YESSS! He is moving on! So huge! Now go make babies now.
With his aunt. Love their relationship, especially aunt's bland 'ES must have learned about your suicidal stunt somewhere' and CY saying that ES put a knife to her own throat to protect him. In a way, this is the quickest way to a heart of a warrior like CY - not pretty words but willing to put your life on the line.
Nogook/Gongmin awww! He is seeking her advice and she is encouraging him. And omfg, he will totally be a good king for those people who rely on him!
This scene would be my favorite except for the hand scene being in the same episode! The thing that gets me the most is that she is smiling again, smiling so much in front of him. In light of last ep's conversation, so huge. They both have got a new lease on life. And then she twirls in front of him to show off her new outfit and our brave general totally swallows hard. Go make out already! Now! And she touches her shoulder and he totally touches the spot she did! And he says he has to go fight a bunch of assassins and she asks him if he will win and he says yes. And I love that she can trust his comments because he never lies to her, no comforting untruths for him. She also suggests they meet in this pavilion every day (when possible) at the same time to drink (will this be a future plot point?) but he has something else in mind - knife training. Ah, Choi Young! Because yes OMG he kneels and demands she lifts her dress (OMFG cheeky cheeky Choi Young, that's X-rated by 14th-century standards) and slips a knife holster with a knife on her leg. asjsfofdlgjfgjlfgj!!! Only CY will give this as a present! And he offers her lessons and she tells him she is a doctor so he replies, with a little grin, that she can stab first and treat later, like she did with him. I LOVE THEM SO FRELLING MUCH I HAVE NO WORDS! And she smiles when he leaves but when he's out of sight, her smile goes away. She put on a brave face for him! May it end better than when she put on a brave face for him at the end of ep 6.
Bwahaha when Nogook asks the Minister how a wife makes her husband feel better - how does his wife makes him feel better and he says alcohol and then squeezes out sex. Bwahahahaha and then Gongmin comes in and Nogook rushes out all embarrassed and why are you so ridiculously cute? Should I send BOTH couples of this to sex ed or something? Because I need makeouts!
The scene with his destroying the assassins, at the edge of his endurance but actually not a suicidal shell any more. And even in destruction, he keeps his humanity - see him close that one assassin's eyes. And his comments about how Eun Soo is different from him and them and I realize that now he fights for her. My God, this drama is the most perfect thing ever. EVER.
Hmmm, Eun Soo gets a diary. Why?
The one thing is - all these episodes managed to do is to confirm to me that Choi Young cannot live without Eun Soo. Not in a romantic sense, but literally. So how is it going to work out unless she stays in the past? Because you know if she goes back to the present, he's going to walk into the nearest battle and die.
Seriously most perfect thing ever.

Yes, this! YES OMFG.. And she is totally under his shields despite his feeble earlier attempts to take his hand away. Ohhhhh. You know, I think except for her, nobody has touched him (literally) for years. I love how they are so emotionally open there and...OK, need to rewatch.

I will take your word for it. CY's expression! His expression. You know, the hands thing could be the new kissing. They're all about wrist-grabbing and hand-holding. I mean, it is what you normally see in dramas but with them, it gets more meaningful. But I want real kissesssss. I melted when he tucked her hair behind her ear when he realized something was off. And his fears were confirmed: she's crying again. And so comes his promise! That he will never again risk his life so easily like that, and he asks her not to cry anymore. Wah. Yes, because you have to live! For ES! Because she needs you. And you need her more. And you guys are making me all teary-faced. I just love the symbolism, or I don't know how to put it, that ES is a doctor/healer and she's treated him physically but what's more important is that she's basically healing all of CY's inner wounds and fears too.
That smile of his when she says she's not going to run anymore! Hee. And how funny is it he's signalling his men to go away. I don't understand though why he is looking around when ES was talking about partners. Is it because he's sulking? Like he's afraid of what it can mean? And when ES explained it. Ohmygod. Who would have thought we'd get to see CY's giddyface in the present time? I love the "pact" they've established as partners. It's like they're a couple already. Lol. Reporting their comings and goings. Ah, so cute. I love the part about protecting each other. And the idea that she will protect him is just so foreign to him. But I love that he's basically listening to her now, like stating in detail where they were going and for what purpose. Aw. He'd make a great husband. And shaking hands! Hands again! Hasn't ES heard of sealing a deal with a kiss? Lol. And he's all shy taking her hand but of course, nothing can deter ES. Did his aunt see them holding hands, aside from his men? Hee. Can't wait when ES is officially part of their family.

I don't think he was sulking - more like wary and puzzled and a little nervous because with ES you never know :)

YES! He is moving on. And I second the making babies part. I love him muttering and ranting about ES putting a knife to her throat. He's still seething over the memory. In. So. Deep. I love that it shows how much CY is so different from before. He's being passionate about something. Reacting to the world. Not just going through the motions. And Aunt basically knows it, too.
Aunt and ES should have more scenes together. If pictures existed then, I could just imagine Aunt showing ES his baby pictures. Lol. And ES will tease him forever about it.
Hee. His swallowing when ES was asking him how she looks. I love shy, awkward CY. And then he asks her to lift her skirt?! Lol. Is that like third base or something in Goryo? Ohmygod. I want a scene where he's teaching her knifework. It's like a date by 14th century standards, right? I love that they have a meeting place: DATING. Basically. Telling him to take care and smiling and him smiling back. I'm a puddle of goo. I remembered the scene with the little king again. They were like a family then. Sniff. Now, it's like a wife telling her husband to come back soon. Awww. Can they just get married and makeout forever? Random but, they kinda match with their outfits now. Let the ceremonies begin. But I hope that nothing too serious happens to CY. :(

The appearance of the diary, CY basically hurt reallyreally bad is making me worry. I knew the last two episodes were too good to be true. What's gonna happen? I just wish ES will not forget that she and CY are partners.

Date: 2012-09-19 08:02 pm (UTC)I think they are meeting in the middle about the blood-letting - he is more mindful of the cost and meaning of it all, to himself or others (washing his hands, closing the dead person's eyes) but she realizes that in the 14th century, you can't escape bloodshed, you can only limit it to righteous causes - she smiles when she sends him off (even though it's a mask for her concern) and she asks him if he can win, and when he says he can, she lets it go without further comment (what bothered her about his match with GC isn't that he is going to shed blood of GC but that he will shed his own and die).
The knife thing is totally a date - I can't wait to see him teach her. Pls pls drama make it happen, you can't just dangele suh a glorious thing in front of us and not fulfill it.
Lady Choi would totally should pictures and tell embarassing stories. LOL
He wants that. He needs that. He wants her. He needs her.
Dying here.
I want some h/c in the next few eps. Not that this drama isn't h/c central already, but still - I want her to bind his wounds and stuff. I am greedy.

But seriously, the way this show handles the romance is perfect- they don't make it overly cheesy and they don't just leave it to us to imagine they're in love. The romance is tied in with the plot. When they're together- the plot moves forward and the good guys get smart and kick ass. When they're apart shit happens and KC takes advantage.
This episode is so much perfection for both the lead OTP AND the secondary OTP! Actually every scene in this episode was perfect! I love the Queen and her trying to be supportive and the King's taking her counsel into consideration when he makes decisions. They are so cute!
I can't even put into words how much I love CY and ES and how every scene with them is both hot and intimate and cute at the same time. Their intimacy is grogeous and all they're physically doing is holding hands! And I love how CY immediately transitions back to being light and happy once ES is back and not running away.
Tbh, I was worried about CY the whole episode because KC sliced his arm and leg and he didn't get it fixed! I knew it'd come bite him in the ass.
