dangermousie: (FY: Tamahome/Miaka and suzuku 7 by jadei)

Not watching any more.

Am crying instead.

Nuriko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fuck.

Though the death/grieving scene was brilliant, with Tasuki's temper really being a hopeless defence mechanism now, and Tamahome's quiet steady grief, and Miaka's breakdown. Reminded me of the scene outside Moria after Gandalf's fall.

In other news, I don't think Nuriko ever loved Miaka in a way let's say Tamahome loves Miaka. I think he became more at peace with what and who he was and the guy/girl balance in him, but it didn't come across as if he developed a passion for Miaka, more that she loved her like he did the rest of the people in Suzuku 7. Could he have loved her if his sister didn't die? Who knows...

Also, it appears Tamahome is having a (literal) existential crisis because Yui told him he is just a character in a book. Will he ask Miaka? I think he is afraid (what a thing to add to their angst of 'we are from two different worlds and we can't hold each other but we will just this one time in the woods because we can't help it and Miaka please stay with me here' drama). And he really is good with kids. Mmmm. My ovaries just went 'sploidy. Also, what is it with haircuts? First Tamahome, then Nuriko? The scene where he goes to the evil pub and people try to rob him and he says he has no money so the guy is 'you'll have to pay with your body' and Tamahome is 'cut it out, I like girls' and it turns out the guy meant a beatdown is almost as hilarious as the scene where Miaka assumes Tamahome is acting oddly because he had to exchange sexual favors in return for info re: relic and Tamahome is all indignant and "do you think I can be forced into stuff like this?" and Miaka horrifiedly misinterprets and goes "you mean you did it willingly?" ROFL.

Anyway, I would probably talk more about any of this, but I can't because NURIKO!!! I hate this. I can't believe an anime made me bawl.

I am so upset. Seriously. Awful.

I cried during Peacemaker. I make an effort not to in anime, but it happens more frequently than I'd like to admit.

You know, if you like FY, Inuyasha really is in the same genre of anime. I happen to love Sesshomaru, Inu's Bryonic and hateful older brother who has some redeeming features, one of them being something that endears him to me for good.

Before I started my anime 'run' I couldn't understand people crying at anime. I mean, it's cartoons, people! Well, out of 4 anime series I've seen so far in any large quantity (Escaflowne, Trigun, HYD and FY) I cried at all of them except for Escaflowne where comparatively not too much horrible (unless you are a Folken fan) happens. Talk abut eating my words!

Inuyasha? I've seen a little of the dub on Adult Swim and it looked OK but I don't know. Maybe because Inuyasha isn't very attractive. Or maybe the dub is bad. I also don't think the animation is as pretty as FY. But if you say it's fun, I'll give it a try.

something that endears him to me for good

and it is....? :P

People generally don't understand us anime fans unless they really sit down and get involved in it. I remember when I used to look at a friend who was into Gundam Wing and be like "why does she like those drawings"? All it took was Vampire Hunter D for me to totally fall for the genre. Didn't hurt that the first full series I watched was Trigun, which appealed to me.

Re: Inuyasha. The dub...she blows. The voice actors in that one I HATE. I have to watch the sub or not at all. Inu actually gre on me as I watched him. He's got a Tasuki like personality with a little Tamahome thrown in. There's also the whole "Bermuda Love Triangle of Death" that is actually pretty good.

Re: Sesshy. I was always fairly attracted to him, but what really wins me over is when he takes in a little girl. Sessh hates humans, he always has, and he hates his brother, but he proves he's not all bad when he finds a little orphan girl, heals her and then lets her tag along with him. He even lets her call him "Fluffy", which is hilarious considering how dignified he is. There are many people who think he and Rin are an OTP. Considering he's an immortal, there's a distinct possibility they could believably be so. It's all very Jane Austen in a way. Sessh isn't a nice, cuddly guy, he never will be, but he is extremely fond of Rin in that protective "I'll never admit I like her, but watch me lay my life on the line for her all the time" way.

Hmmmm. I guess I'll check Inuyasha out then (though at this rate, I will never work through my stack of anime :P)

I used to be really bemused by [livejournal.com profile] aliterati and [livejournal.com profile] katranna's liking for anime. I mean, they weren't children, so what was with that. And look at me now :P
