Why so amazing, drama?

Anime dude and flunkies searching Choi Young for weapons. I love how calm and nonchalant he is about this, as if they are beneath his notice really, beneath a reason for worry. That iron warrior's control comes in handy, doesn't it?

And the same thing happens when the Lord that betrayed them stops by and says, snidely 'don't blame me.' Choi Young responds 'I walked into a trap by myself, why would I blame you?' There is cool, there is very cool, and there is Choi Young.

asdfghjjk!!! This scene! The only time this coolness, this 'I don't really care about anything in the world' masks falls off is with Eun Soo. This scene is pretty much every shoujo period manga/anime fantasy in the flesh and something about it gets me on such a visceral level - he is sitting there, caged, and sees her walking with Gi Chul and his retinue and he just stares at her and she just stares at him, and it's as if there is nobody else in that world, and their emotion is so plainly written there - in their eyes, their faces. And then Gi Chul interferes and Choi Young turns away (looking somehow vulnerably young) and Eun Soo continues looking anyway. And he raises his eyes and follows her with his eyes again. I mean - the intensity and shippiness of this scene is out of this world - more romantic and hotter than ten make-outs (though I'll take make-outs too, drama!)

I love every scene with Nogook and Gongmin and this is no exception. His anger (and a hint of fear) at his powerlessness - that rage that has no outlet. And her anger at what he must be going through. She loves him sfm - I just need them together now!

Choi Young in a dungeon, all chained up, but what guts me is he keeps thinking of the little King dying to protect him and here, in 'privacy', he can cry again. And he is thinking of Eun Soo's words about his dirty hands (he's basically thinking of all the worst stuff, right?). And his face! But then OMG I literally started screeching like a banshee with a head cold - he kept the flower he gave her! In the aspirin bottle she gave him (is he starting a 'things ES gave me' collection?) and he thinks of her giving it to him, but underlying it all her comments about the smell of blood - her being bothered by it bothers him. Ohhhhh. (And, this is why I love 720p - you can see the unshed tear in his eye as he lies down).

Have to run, but need to watch more like I need to breathe!

Hi there! I'm one of the anons who finally managed to log in and properly comment.

Anyhow, I just have to warn you before you go any further... This episode is MADE OF AWESOME! I was seriously freaking out the entire time I was watching it. All the best characters (CY, ES, the king and the queen) are amazing in this ep.

Hi! That icon - swoooon.

Yup, I finished the ep and it was beyond amazing. I need the whole drama in my greedy hands now.

I just watched the first 15 minutes too!

So many tears for these first few minutes! But an amazing episode nonetheless.

The impatient/restless part of me still wants the plot to move faster though. LOL! My patience is only 1% of yours, Mousie!

Oh! And yesterday I watched the mini-drama "Ma Boy". It's only 3 episodes! You should definitely watch it. If you can enjoy the korean HanaKimi, then you will LOVE this one. The best part is that the two main characters actually have a BRAIN and there are no hateable side characters!

TTBY is pretty much a freak occurrence in my liking it. I can count on the fingers of one hand with some fingers chopped off the number of kdramas that I liked that are fluffy and/or teen idolish. Ma Boy makes me think of shows my kid watches, so I am gonna skip :)

I know, when I saw that he kept the flower. I just awwwwed like crazy. I thought it was pretty weird though that ES hates the smell of blood...considering she is a doctor :/ Comparing this drama to Rich Man, Poor Woman, Faith is more romantic now and it is not even half way finished and Rich Man, Poor Woman only has two episodes to go and the romance is severely lacking. What is with that?

I was reading that in Japan public displays of affection are very rare because Japan is a very proper and reserved culture- public displays of affection are looked at as shameful. It even said that men don't do things like open doors for women or hand hold in public = chivalry is dead there. How could this be true, have I been misinformed?! It doesn't make sense because in manga this stuff happens, but it would really explain the lack of romance in j-dramas, I'm just getting so frustrated with it. If that stuff is true, I'm never going to Japan, my hopeless-romantic heart couldn't take it :(

If this is true then I don't get why k-dramas are so intensely popular there b/c most k-dramas are very romantic... Hana Yori Dango was pretty romantic too, although the hero from that is a rarity, I have never seen any other jdrama man that openly crazy about the heroine and openly telling her that... K-drama heroes are usually 100 times more romantic than J-drama heroes IMO. Kdrama heroes almost always make me feel like they love and cherish the heroine above anyone else and they would protect them with their lives if need be. Jdrama heroes almost never ever get jealous, they are bad communicators and they hold in all their emotions, only grudgingly and reluctantly ever admitting their feelings w/o ever really doing anything romantic - so annoying! Maybe I am stereotyping but in almost every single j-drama the hero is like this! Sorry for going off on a tangent about a completely different topic, I just had to vent...

I think older jdramas used to be quite romantic (Aishiteiru to Itte Kure is one of the most romantic things ever, and not lacking in make outs, and neither is Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Date) but the new ones pretty much avoid it like the plague. The main reason I don't watch jdramas any more.

Re: smell of blood. ES doesn't like it because it signifies CY has killed someone, again. As a healer and a modern person, it's understandably anathema to her.

I don't get why j-dramas avoid romance like the plague, I agree that those shows you named are very romantic. I usually hate j-dramas preachy messages as well but with Rich Man, Poor Woman I really like the message. The show is really encouraging and inspirational, it is actually helping me in my professional life which is pretty weird for me. Even though the romance is lacking it is definitely one of the best j-dramas I've ever seen.... plus Oguri Shun is so nice to look at- He has really come far in his acting, I can't believe he is the same actor who played Rui in HYD, it doesn't even seem like the same person at all, same with Hana Kimi, he was so dull and boring there, but Rich Man, Poor Woman he has really made me adore him- he's very talented.....

Oh, I get why CY doesn't like the smell of blood now....thanks

CY's always so cool. Hee.

I zoned in on the ten make-outs part. Lol. Just kidding. I do love the looks they shared but more scenes and skinship please! I know I'm greedy but we have like 16 episodes left.

His scene with the little king still gets me.

The flower! I flailed at that part! I never thought he'd even think to keep it!! But I should have known. He's such a big sentimental softie inside. :)

is he starting a 'things ES gave me' collection?
I like this. Lol.

he thinks of her giving it to him, but underlying it all her comments about the smell of blood - her being bothered by it bothers him. Ohhhhh.
You are in so deep, CY. I love it.

CY is the very definition of cool.

I would take make outs - I mean, if mere staring is this hot, can you imagine the makeouts? The hotness would go nuclear.

The flower keeping was so unexpected but yet somehow so in character - tough and emotionless on the outside, big teddybear inside.

CY is totally a goner for her. I love it sfm.

Yes yes. Nuclear. I like that. I love that! Drama, please, be good to us. Though it's a period drama. I keep telling myself that. But ES is a 21st century woman... Hmmm.... Lol. But ES has said herself she's a bit dense when it comes to these. Lol.

I know. I just couldn't believe it. For a tough cookie, he's made us go awwww a lot.

I wonder if he realizes his caring for her has gone waywayway beyond guilt of taking her away from her world.

He's a little emotionally shellshocked, so he is probably not realizing it yet.

She is a modern woman, I am sure she's made out before - come on, show our fearless general that there is more fun to have in the world than sword waving and loyalty.

True, I can't wait for both of them to realize it.

She is a modern woman, I am sure she's made out before - come on, show our fearless general that there is more fun to have in the world than sword waving and loyalty.
She can show our general waving of a different kind. Can't believe I just said that. Lol.

I bet the moment they realize they love each other and get together will be incredible.

She can show our general waving of a different kind. Can't believe I just said that. Lol.

Bwahahahaha this needs to be on HBO. Or maybe just have some x-rated fanfic :P

It should be epic. I mean, that's how they are saying the love story is. So I need epic. Lol.

Off to go find one. Lol. Though I don't think there's any fanfic for this drama yet. :(
