Thoughts and ranking of currently airing kdramas...

So, by now I've checked out every airing kdrama I meant to check out. Below is my ranking (from most to least liked - first number is number of eps watched, second number is number of subbed eps out).

1. Faith (2/2) - my new obsession. It's feels like one of my favorite fantasy novels in lush drama form. I've rewatched the episodes out already and obsessed over every little possible thing.

2. Bridal Mask (22/22) - 22 eps aired, 6 eps to go, and obsession is still as strong with me. Smart and dark and poppy and awesome. Like Capital Scandal's older, cooler brother.

3. Arang and the Magistrate (2/2) - a fairy tale for grown ups, this one is ranked as high as it is due to the chemistry between the leads and the whimsical fantasy world. I am not unhealthily invested yet, but I have hopes.

4. Answer Me 1997 (6/6) - the understated underdog of the group. I can't relate to any of the teens at the center of this drama but they feel so real, plus 1990s nostalgia FTW!

5. To the Beautiful You (2/2) - silly and no great acting anywhere in evidence, but it's cute and sweet and relaxing. You could do worse with a fluffy shoujo manga adaptation.

6. May Queen (2/2) - it has the potential to be a great drama when the story moves into the adult portions, but even though the child actors are good, I never get invested in the kid portions of the story. Plus, due to the number of eps, it's moving a tad slowly.

7. Five Fingers (1/1) - I am sure I will enjoy the emo makjang once the adults show up but for now, it's a bunch of talented elders playing horrible people and a bunch of kid actors - and we know how I feel about that. Lower than MQ because it's gloomier.



For now, I am keeping all 7 because I am enjoying all 7, but who knows how it will turn out.

Out of this list, Arang is my #1. But I still want to check out "Answer". I think I'll be obsessed with it (I tend to adore the underdogs/underrated).

Today I watched the first episode of "May Queen" and... DEAR LORD! My head hurt from all the makjang. And I laughed in so many ~dramatic~ moments. Seriously NOT the drama for me...

But "Nice Guy" aired today. I AM SO ON IT!

DramaCrazy has been down today!! :( it's the only place I can go to watch dramas without using the proxy.

If you think MQ is makjang, you haven't seen Five Fingers yet, have you? :) It makes MQ look understated. (Second ep of MQ is less makjang than the first, but if you are at all interested in it, I'd advise to wait out the first 8 eps as they are only child cast).

Nice Guy isn't airing until September, when Gaksital ends...:(

You guessed it right! I haven't checked out Five Fingers yet! I anticipated that Five Fingers would be much more makjang, but I didn't count on MQ being this dramatic.

WHAT? I have been cheated! :( since DramaCrazy is down, I thought I'd get to see Nice Guy when it got back up!

I think I might have to check Answer Me 1997. Everybody seems to be talking about it. 1997 was my first year of high school. It's going to feel pretty nostalgic, even with all the major cultural differences. I'll have to finish Shut Up FBB first though. I can only take one high-school drama at a time. BTW, I'm really enjoying Shut Up. I'm not crazy about it but it's a good drama.

Still not addicted to Faith (just checked out some parts of episode 3 RAW) but going along for the ride. Lee Min Ho is awesome. I adore his character.

I've fallen under the spell of Arang. I love the world-building. It's very fresh and original.

Still crazy in love with Gaksital. It's THE drama for me. Everything else seems lacking in scope and vision next to it. IE: I'm going to love Arang a lot but it's just a little story to be gobbled down.

I am obsessed with Gaksital still, which is impressive because if I watch a drama as it airs, I tend to lose steam near the end.

A1977 - waiting might be good, because as of now, the otp endgame is unclear.

LMH turns me back into a hormonal teen fangirl. It's ridiculous.

I'm actually liking To the Beautiful You. Didn't expect it to make me laugh so much.
But that's only because I entered the drama remembering to not even remember its an adaption of a manga.
Learnt my mistake watching Boys Over Flowers.

Just wondering, where is everyone getting the raws + subs for Answer Me, 1997?
That's the only thing hindering me from actually watching it hehe.

I don't know what's wrong with my taste in dramas lately... Instead of checking out Faith or Arang, I find myself watching To the Beautiful You and May Queen. Answer Me 1997 is the only new-ish drama that redeems my current watchlist, which is currently filled with one guilty pleasure after another. I'm blaming this on my thesis. :P

I am in the mood this time around for swords and fantasy so my top two dramas are Faith and Arang; they are my obsessions right now.

I feel both Faith and Arang are resembling these chinese fantasy dramas I love to watch so just love love the whole fantasy world that is being created can't wait to see where the story goes and I am in it for the whole ride.

For fluff I am watching Ma Boy a short little three episode drama that is surprisingly fun and breezy also great twist with a boy dressing up as a girl finally.

My Makjang dramas all starts in September with Nice Guy I can't wait!

Hey Dangermousie I recommend Ma Boy for fluff drama if you are bored give it a watch and tell me what you think and yes it is targeted for teens and the disney crowd but surprisingly cute drama with heart.

I agree, they both feel very cdramaish and I love that.

I'd love to watch Ma Boy as it sounds cute, but unfortunately I haven't found subs yet
