Arang and the Magistrate - ep 2
Aug. 18th, 2012 10:54 pmI have finished ep 2 of Arang and the Magistrate and it's so dreamlike and any scene with Lee Jun Ki and Shin Min Ah is pretty much luminous...

I do love how both of them, even though they are so different in place in life, personality and even alive/dead status, are united by the commonality of searching for self of self - for him through his mother, for her through finding out who she is.
LJK's character is a rarity - acerbic, deliberately trying not to care, yet falling under Arang's spell - the spell of her friendly and open impulsive warmth and curiosity. I find it a great reversal that the ghost is the more human one...
And the chemistry - oh my God.
If you don't find the way this scene shot swoonily romantic, there is something wrong with your eyes. If someone only saw the images, they would think this is a constant swoonfest, but the dialogue undercuts it, while still making it indubitably romantic.

They are so gorgeous together. And the chemistry feels like a physical thing...

The measuring scene. It is just the most gorgeous romantic thing and their growing awareness of each other - oh wow. I cannot wait to see the insane fireworks that will happen once they recognize they fell each other...

And then there was this:

Date: 2012-08-20 12:12 am (UTC)I definitely don't expect that they'll actually kiss at this point--though part of me wishes they would, the fact that they ended moments before rather than right at the kiss makes me think that this is either a dream, that Arang is messing with him, or that Arang's serious (I'd be surprised) & that he's going to pull away.
The chemistry between these two is palpable. I love it.
