Gumiho - pretty much perfect

I realize that I am watching My Girlfriend is a Gumiho at a pace slower than the slowest snail ever lived, but it is not because the drama doesn't grab me - it is darling and romantic and sweet, with an emotional punch that gets you hard when it needs to - I am watching so slowly precisely because every little bit is so filling (and because I know angst is coming, plus I don't want the drama to end).



And oh, oh, how I love, adore, and want to protect Mo Ho and Dae Woong. I swear, if you are not moved by them, you have no soul.






Lee Seung Gi continues his magic feat of looking incredibly gorgeous and making my heart pitter-patter due to his awesome portrayal of an awesome character, after I found him so plain and unappealing in the beginning. And Shin Min Ah is pretty much perfection.

Hong Sisters' dramas split up evenly into Love and "WTF were they thinking/boring" camps for me (Delightful Girl Chunhyang, My Girl, Hong Gil Dong and Gumiho make the former group, and Fantasy Couple, You're Beautiful, Best Love and Big fall into the latter). I had no expectations going in and the first few eps were tough going but then a switched flipped and I saw the magic. I am so so happy Gumiho exists...

lol you're still doing gumiho? i'm so pleased your switch flipped; it is truly the cutest that it is possible to be. even the angst is gentle and low-key and all the lovelier and more painful for it.

i've seen a whole lot of talk lately, even preceding big, about the hong sisters' dramas, and about how overrated they are and about their female characters. eventually i'll get around to making a post about it. i should probably at least watch best love first, even though i don't think i'll ever try big, lol.

Big is blah, to put it kindly, but Best Love is actively nails-on-chalkboard awful for me.

I think Hong Sisters do a certain type of heroine well. They've done strong women before (Chunhyang comes to mind) but when they are off their game, they are awful.

I absolutely adored this. It was so cute, and I loved Miho's curiosity and how she's all he is mine! (and of course her love for meat and fizzy drinks)
LSG can be a hit or miss for me, I don't fins him attractive but thanks to 1N2D I think he is hilarious and he and Min Ah are seriously adorable.
