I am almost done with the first episode (I've forgotten how long twdrama eps are - this one is an hour-and-a-half) and I love love love! I don't remember the last time a twdrama worked this well for me - it must have been years!

But there is no mugging, desperate cuteness (by now, I am exhausted by cutesy, shrill, infantile heroines), but a gorgeous indie vibe and people who feel real to me - I adore Ariel Lin's character so much - I can totally identify with her in pretty much every respect (except for not being as gorgeous :p) and just...Remember how I posted that I don't find Bolin Chen in the least attractive? Well, objectively, I can still tell he is not good-looking, but I love his character - the teasing, the sweetness, the bone-deep decency, so much, I don't even care:



Guuuh, why did it take me this long to discover this drama?

Hehe, I was late to the ITWY party too, but it immediately jumped to the top of my fav twdrama list. Ariel's character got a little grating at times, but nothing unmanageable. And I agree about Chen Bolin not being that attractive, but he somehow manages to be super cute and likable. I smile whenever I see him in advertisements in Taiwan. :D Glad you're enjoying the drama!

Yeah, his looks are not my thing at all (I like my dudes more macho) but his character is so amazing, I don't care.

I can very much see myself in Ariel and that is very rare in a drama heroine who tend to be either angels or childish.

Btw in the process of ITWY i thought you would gradually change your perception about Chen Bo lin is not attractive kekekeke.. That was what happened to so many people including me XDDD Let's see..
I agree, ITWY gives these indie feels that we can related, thats what attracted me and made this drama raised to my top list drama ^^
Bolin really played Li da ren so perfect to every little detail. His role as a 'good boy' is the kind of role that have high risk to be a boring role, but somehow he made it so charming and attractive.. His natural performance is outstanding. I think all viewer agree, for 13 epsds, if have to choose the most outstanding person in this drama, that is Li da ren. He is really stood out, and because Chen You Qing played by Ariel, made it more perfect. He made we want to say 'what is so good about bad boy charm', Good boy FTW!!! No wonder all taiwan still head over heels towards his character, Da ren ge ^^

With Bolin's character, it's more like - yes, he's not goodlooking, but I don't care because (to be corny) his heart is beautiful

Both he and Ariel feel so real to me here, like people I could know or pass by on the street..

I recently watched ITWY and it was puuuuure looooooooooooove for me. I fell head over heels for Bolin Chen--talk about CHARISMA!--and he and Ariel Lin are just PERFECTION.

I was a little surprised at how many people disliked Ariel's character, when I loved her. She seems so real to me. Imperfect--of course, but with a great heart and a wonderful sense of humor. It worked for me because Da Ren is just as imperfect, and it it fascinated me how their imperfections both complemented each other perfectly and yet simultaneously made it nearly impossible for them to be together romantically. I mean, obviously there's some serious repression at play when two people who are so into each other manage to be best friends for over 15 years without anything happening. So of course it was frustrating at times, but You Qing & Da Ren's relationship just seemed SO REAL to me. I can't wait to hear more about your thoughts as you delve further into the series. I was desperate to find a place to chat about it when I was watching (a few weeks ago), but all of the posts/discussions of it were too old.

Anyway, ITWY was one of the most honest, beautiful explorations of love that I've ever seen and I'm sure you'll adore it.

I love Ariel's character - someone like that is not often a drama heroine but here, like in kdramas Coffee House and Worlds Within, a challenging, difficult but loveable and fascinating woman is allowed to be center stage. I love it. Sure, she has flaws - everyone does - but she feels real and complex and relatable.

Oh, trust me, I will be chatting about this nonstop.

ITWY is by and far the best TW drama I've watched at this point. I'm relatively new to TW dramas, been watching them for only a few months, but this one was the only one I'd call awesome.

This is such a solid drama and Ariel Lin and Bolin Chen have such great chemistry, as friends and lovers.
I love the kind of thoughtfulness that comes from You Qing's inner dialogue.

Admittedly, I only skimmed through the middle of this drama because it moved very slowly but I still love it because of how serene and real this drama feels.

Ariel is so gorgeous in this drama. She positively glows.

This was my first introduction to Bolin and I liked his looks immediately. After finishing the drama, he is now one of my top TW-actors.

So you love Ariel's character! Finally found more people who likes her character like me. It was so tiring to see everyone hating on her character while I was loving her, hahahaha she feels so real and because she is just like one of my best friends made me like her even more, she is just sooooo alike my best friend and that is why even if she gets annoying at times, I can't hate her because I understand her! lol but I confess my friend can be really difficult at time and we had some ugly fights but we are still friends after 10 years... :)

Maybe I'm weird. For example, while everyone hated Eun Jo (Moon Geun Young) from Cinderella's sister I loved her character and stick to that drama only because of her character and her stepdad played by amazing Kim Gab Soo, and also because I love Moon geun Young <3 but people hated her character and disliked the drama (well I understand why - no romance, frustrating main guy.... and all). I also finished Beethoven virus only because of Maestro Kang, everyone said BV was a bad drama, but because of maestro kang I stick to it until the end and don't regret it (btw Kim Myung Min was just so amazing in that drama)

I dropped Cinderella Unni because the plot was not going anywhere but I had no problem with MGY's character.

I really love Ariel's character - she's difficult but still loveable.
