And nobody is more surprised than I am that it actually looks adorable and cute and fun (full disclosure - I liked the manga, was OK with the Taiwanese version, disliked the 2009 jdrama intensely and never bothered with 2011 jdrama).

I guess I will be checking it out, after all. Though I will probably wait until Gaksit is over - from prior experience I am incapable of watching a grim and fluffy drama together - I always end up irritated by the fluffy one.

I liked the drama. LOVED the Taiwanese version and was horrified by the 2011 Jdrama!! I think I will enjoy it! Probably won't be my favorite drama of the year but I bet I will like it.

Oh, thank goodness there's somebody who agrees! It annoys me to no end when fans hold Hana Kimi and its cast up to be some flawless standard that the korean version will never ever achieve, because I honestly don't want the kdrama version to be anything like the japanese ones. Mostly because the cast (with the exception Toma and maybe some minor side characters) was blander than bland and the show itself really had very little to do with the manga atmosphere wise. I actually did enjoy/like the drama (for the sheer crack) but not because of any merit it had as a faithful adaption. :/

Hopefully the korean version will be more accurate to the original feel; it does look really cute. :D The PD is the same one who directed BOF but maybe's he's improved since.. Meanwhile the writer's fairly capable and the music director's the same one who did Goong and City Hunter so at the very least the production won't be a tacky annoying mess like BOF was. I'm just praying it won't turn into a boring flop like Playful Kiss did, either.

Yeah people loved the jdrama and honestly it did nothing for me. Sano and Mizuki were dead weights. and everything else while being very wacky was just ultimately vapid and empty for me. I was BORED. and thats cause I didnt care about anything or any one. especially not the romance and while the manga is not amazing (its definitely no Kare Kano or Mars) it was fairly fun and entertaining and I enjoyed Sano/Mizuki more or less. The only good thing about the jdrama was nakatsu/toma because toma is one of my fave dudes ever and he really acted the hell out of nakatsu, without question he is the saving grace of that drama. but toma never disappoints me. and Oguri Shun is actually a very good actor but he totally phoned it in. whether that was cause the script gave him nothing to work with or cause maki is a lifeless robot and sucked the life right out of him or because he simply didnt give two shits about that drama or his character I'll never know but that's why I'm not super upset about Minho, because what I know of Minho is while his acting is not good he always gives 100% to everything he does so I am sure he will try his best if nothing else and honestly I think that will prob make him more fun to watch than Sano in the jdrama was for sure. Even if he misses the mark in the end.

Yeah, the jdrama was so very blah. I don't think this will be a masterpiece but I doubt it will be as bad as the jdrama.

My full disclosure - I love the Japanese version with Shun Oguri it's one of my all-time favourite Japanese dramas, I hated the Taiwanese version with all my heart, I've never bothered to start the 2011 version, also, because just the cast put me off and I've never read the manga.
The teaser looks promising. I'm not conviced by the leads yet, however, I love the song plus Lee Hyun Woo plays the Korean version of Nankatsu Shin'ichi and I fell in love with him in Legend where he played the young Cheoro (Cheoro was 13 when Damdeok was born - C looked like 13 and D looked like a newborn, then 18 years later C was 31 and D was 18 BUT C looked like 25 and D looked like 35 ---- the biggest inconsistency in appearance and age of Asian drama history - well, since C was played by Lee Philip I just shut my brain and left only my eyes wide open). But the thing I'm the most afraid about is that the director is no other than Jun Ki Sang who directed BOF (where directing was as bad as
Koo Hye Sun's performance and that means you hit the rock bottom) and the lackluster Witch Amusement, however, I love My girl, nevertheless, I'm afraid it's more to do with that it's a Hong sister drama rather his genius directing skills. Still I keep my fingers crossed.

Yes, the BOF director is a big no but the rest of it is promising and, honestly, the big problem with BOF was the horrific script

Still debating on whether to see this one. I was entertained enough by the original jdrama, haven't seen other versions but liked the manga. But I have various kpop related issues with the male lead, and both he and the lead female are both untried singers. And there's no Oguri Shun here keep calm through the crazy.

I'd suggest waiting until the reviews are out - that's what I usually do with dramas I am not sure about

I didn't like the first Jdrama version - I never managed to finish it - and I didn't even know there was a second version. Other than Ella being Ella, I thought the twdrama version was very true to the manga. Hana Kimi isn't a story I'm in love with, tbh, so I'll probably check it out but it's not something I have to see.

I have never managed to finish any of the Hana Kimis. Mizuki is supposed to still look like a GIRL Ella!

Anyway I LOVE Sulli, Lee Hyun Woo, EXO, and Kwanghee so I'll be watching

The acting from the leads in the 2007 JPN version was a major fail. Maki is too stiff ALL THE TIME and Shun phoned his entire performance in...PHONED IT IN.

I love Shun so that hurt my heart.

The Taiwanese version was Chun being Maki (i.e. Unable to act) and Ella OVERACTING.

Frankly the Nakatsus, and other side characters, were the only thing making both dramas memorable.

I do not get all the reverence people have for the dramas. I know nothing about the 2011 version.

The good thing about seemingly crappy dramas with idols is that our standards are SO FREAKING LOW that it's near impossible to disappoint us. LOL

Seriously, I expected this to be the worst drama I ever ever ever watched, not even "so bad it's hilarious" but actually just plain BAD.

So the teaser is actually okay. If I'm bored and have enough free time, I'll try this drama.

I haven't bother with the 2011 jdrama but enjoyed all the other versions so I'm glad to see the trend looks to continue. I'm only hoping this one has a better ending than all the others. 2009 jdrama was watered down and tdrama version was cut short. I want my kisses!!!

It's an idol kdrama, I think there won't be much kissing :)

I am really excited for this as I've said in other posts on your journal. and I honestly have good expectations even tho I know how likely it is that the drama will fall flat on its face but if it does I dont think sulli and minho will be to blame tbh but the writing and direction, because they would have to try really hard to be more lifeless and stiff than Oguri Shun and Horikita Maki were. Even tho neither of them are idols, Maki has always been really wooden and lifeless for me, probably one of my least favorite japanese actresses. and Shun just totally phoned it in. just zero effort. all in all it was a vapid, ridiculous MESS. I honestly dont know how or why it is sooo popular. because frankly I hated it. I never saw the Taiwanese drama, it probably was closer to the manga but from the clips I saw I dont think I would have liked it very much either. (but for different reasons ofc) so basically I'm putting all my hopes on the kdrama version being the one that gets Hana Kimi RIGHT. Even if it doesnt follow the manga closely. Like I said upthread, I feel like Minho will be better than Oguri Shun not because he is a better actor (because lol he definitely isnt) but because he'll put alot more effort and passion into it than Shun did. and hopefully the script will be alot better than jdrama one. and gad I like Sulli 10000x more than Maki and I think she will be better than her at least even if she's not great. and in the interview Sulli basically said she was excited to show her more boyish side since when she's in her girl group f(x) her role is being super cute and girly which doesnt allow her alot of room to show off other parts of herself that dont fit that image. So yes I have a good feeling. Let's see if it's well founded. (in my experience almost every drama i was ever excited for ended up disappointing me while dramas i wasnt initially interested in or even considering watching end up being super enjoyable. there are exceptions ofc so lets hope this is one of them XD)

To tell the truth people sometimes make the story seems like it was ruined by the jdrama, twdrama or Kdrama, when the story itself isn't that amazing or new.

For example, I finished Hana Yori dango and my god, I regret losing my time in that mangá. Soo annoying and a mess. And the end? Just with an jmovie I could see the real end, WFT I hate when they try everything to win money. After a long jorney they end the manga with a open end making fans beg for more, for a movie or whatever.

I love Hanadan the manga but even I would say - it's 36 volumes, why not give up after 2 0r 3 if it doesn't click? That's totally masochism :)

looks cute. cannot believe that my watching slate after the current crop ends are already THIS packed (planned on watching this, Arang, and Nice Guy) hehe

i know it's wistful thinking wanting this one to be as well-written as Dream High but please, please, please do NOT be boring like Playful Kiss or worse yet, annoying like BOF. Gah, dat shit was crazy as crazy can get and to think I stayed on until episode 12 because I loved the other versions x_x

I'm sure Sulli will do better than poker-faced Maki, I've seen this kid act in a 2006 movie called Punch and her acting was up to standard in the least.
